Subject: A dumb question

Small etiquette question: If I answer a gallery comment, or a direct question under my own picture, what rating should I give myself?? I don't want to artificailly inflate (or knock down) my own rating. Is 0 neutral? Should I even answer comments there at all? People often forget to check the Forum. -Talos the Confused

Most people use whatever the average is. -Trav

I don't see why you'd even answer to a comment in the gallery... People don't usually go back to read what the comments are, least I don't, (once I've posted a rating and comment)..Maybe some people do, I don't know... I don't understand why people just don't click on your name (below your image) to send a question in e-mail... I thought that was what it was for.... I think it's best to either answer them in e-mail or just answer them "here" in the forum...Whatever works for you...I'd agree with Traveler though, if you do answer in the gallery I'd answer with the average rating your getting... ~Cindy

I figure if someone wants to know something bad enough they will email me about it, no real reason to post a comment unless you are defending yourself against a "comment attacker". -Trav

Thanks Trav and Cindy, that all makes sense. -Talos

I thought about this after a reply I made to one of my pictures, even using your average, which may not be possible, you will skew your score over time. I suggest it not be allowed. Also, you can't see other peoples comments without adding hits to your pic. What to do?

Hits to the pict I don't think are that big of a deal. I like to check on my picts when I get the comment posted emails. But you are right, even the average will skew the ratings. Email is always best, I guess. -Trav

Once again this points out the need for the ability to add comments without having to give a rating. As you might recall this was also requested in one of the "I detest your choice of subject matter... but your work doesn't suck" threads.
