Hello everybody. Here is my second entry of a fire breather. I have been working on the fire for a few days now. Messing with tons of texture combos, bumpmaps, functions, color etc. all within Vue till I got something I was happy with. :)

Daz Stephanie the rest done in Vue.

That's a great job, I can't suggest any improvement as I'm not able to do such renders...

I can't do anything like that either, so as far as I'm concerned this is brilliant!

Nice concept, but the flame still looks a bit more like a texture wrapped object. It's not quite luminecent enough either... Should be brighter... Is there a way to rough up the edges of the object a bit so that the uniformity of the object of the flame spurt doesn't look like an object? Other then that.. I really like the idea! Good job!

Thanks. :)

You know, I had the hardest time trying to not make it look like it was wrapped on an object. Actually, my first version of this I was able to do that, but the flame was so un luminecent it looked dull and lifeless. The more I was able to brighten up the flame the more object wrapped it looked. It was frustrating to say the least. I just had to settle for a happy medium or scrap the entire fire set up I had. :)

I think that stems from having to have the fire so close to the figure. I had to lighten up the figure and the flame but both needed different types of lighting and didn't want one to effect the other in a bad way. Lighting up the flame kept on overlighting the figure. The fire is so transparent in places the light passes right through it. It was a nasty cycle I tell ya. :)

But I was working on fire for almost three weeks now and I think I am done with it for now. But I do appreciate what you are saying about it. It is in the back of my mind as well. :)

I agree that it looks a bit texture-wrapped but otherwise is fantastic!! You did a very nice job with the lighting too :)
