Well it's taken him forever, but the guy at Dedicated Digital has finally made his free Bengal Tiger available. Maybe this means he's finally going to get his website fully up and running. -SMT

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

I did a render and posted it today in Poser gallery. They did an incredible job.

ElectricAardvark ( ) posted Tue, 14 May 2002 at 4:15 PM

Thanks for the info smallspace. Cool Tiger

Nance ( ) posted Tue, 14 May 2002 at 4:18 PM

thanks for the head's-up. I hope DedicatedDigital does start posting again. They had some really great pieces in the past.

hmatienzo ( ) posted Tue, 14 May 2002 at 4:19 PM

So, what can we do about the Bad Referrer Error the site keeps returning???

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 14 May 2002 at 4:22 PM

I had no problems at all....Sharen

Nance ( ) posted Tue, 14 May 2002 at 4:38 PM

Just DL'd ok for me too.

jrsamples ( ) posted Tue, 14 May 2002 at 4:45 PM

If you are running a firewall, that will come up. Try disabling it or changing it's settings. I have Norton Internet Security and the script on the site is looking for a response from your browser. ( A cookie, I'm guessing )

hmatienzo ( ) posted Tue, 14 May 2002 at 5:14 PM

Nope, Firewall isn't it, too bad. The model looks too great. :-(

I tried changing the option in ZoneAlarm to allow 3rd party cookies and pop-ups, but still got the Bad Referrer Error message, so finally shut down ZoneAlarm just for the download. It worked! I got the tiger and am happy! :-)

Anyone having trouble with him? X, Y, and Z translate on the front paws doesn't seem to work. Liz Pope Dreamspinner

Tashar59 ( ) posted Tue, 14 May 2002 at 11:22 PM

Works fine for me. It is just what I needed to finish my render. Still trying to do some postwork. Wish poser rendered better, Maybe poser5 will be better. Tashar 59

cooler ( ) posted Tue, 14 May 2002 at 11:32 PM

Liz, IIRC several people had problems with Dedicated Digital models in the past, & there were 'corrected' cr2 files available. I'm sure there are old threads somewhere in the archives here I just don't have the time to dig them out right now :-)

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Tue, 14 May 2002 at 11:39 PM

Dreamspinner: Do you have IK turned on for the forepaws (LeftHand/RightHand)? The translate dials won't work, otherwise. That is one big tiger. I tried him out with the existing cat/big cat/lion poses; some of them actually look okay, others will need a bit of work. I think I'll make him Mimic-ready this weekend. * goes hunting for Sher Khan audio clips *

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Tue, 14 May 2002 at 11:42 PM

Little Dragon, IK chains have always been confusing for me. Could you explain how to turn them on because translation certainly doesn't work. I also think I sort of remember there might have been a corrected cr2, but haven't a clue how to find it. Liz Dreamspinner

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Tue, 14 May 2002 at 11:47 PM

Oh, geez....figured it out....hitting head Liz Dreamspinner

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Wed, 15 May 2002 at 12:05 AM

Glad you figured it out. Here's an ice pack.

For those who haven't yet, Inverse Kinematics (or IK) can be turned on and off from the Figure menu. When it's turned on, you can move the paws, and the rest of the limb will follow automatically. Without IK, you have to pose each part of the limb separately.

The only corrected Dedicated Digital .cr2 that I know of is for the orangutan, which fixes head movement and improves bending. It's by Scott Ayers, and can be found on his site, Pixelatious Creations.

TBKoen did a remapped version of the Dedicated Digital T-Rex, and the .zip archive includes a new .cr2, but as far as I know it's just a remap, and doesn't fix anything else. It's also rather difficult to track down.

DD did a corrected cr2 for the tiger... it's referenced in this thread.. http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=66319 However I checked his poseworks site & the downloads section is offline so someone will have to get a hold of him to find out if it is still available.

ronknights ( ) posted Wed, 15 May 2002 at 6:43 AM

OK, I give. Is this some kind of an initiation? I've clicked everywhere there is to click, and still don't have a tiger to download. There is no text that implies some other action is necessary to get the tiger. Hey, folks, there's no need for anyone to make it this hard. It doesn't matter if it's free.

rockets ( ) posted Wed, 15 May 2002 at 9:56 AM

Ron, you have to fill out the free content access box. :-)

My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!

ronknights ( ) posted Wed, 15 May 2002 at 10:15 AM

I'd already filled it out the other day, but got some kind of error. I did it again, and finally fumbled my way to get the tiger. Message671422.jpg

Allen9 ( ) posted Wed, 15 May 2002 at 12:26 PM

It seems that the tiger still has the major flaw that I found in almost all the animals when I bought the DD Animal Kingdom CD way back - there's NO 'knee' joint. The shin & thigh are run together into one single, non-bendable piece labeled "thigh", what should be the foot is labeled "shin" and what should be the toe is labeled "foot". It's OK for standing or jumping poses, but it's absolutely impossible to make the tiger sit down or do a reclining pose (like the sphinx, for example), and naturally, those are the poses I need now. The remapped texture is great but they really should have fixed that glaring error with the back legs.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Wed, 15 May 2002 at 7:44 PM

Allen, Can the Tiger be reboned in ProPack? I have the DAZ Panther (not yet installed) and ProPack, which has a set-up room. If moving human bones into a human-shaped figure works, then moving big cat bones into a big cat mesh ought to work, too. The tigers I've seen spent most of their time lying around in various stages of somnolence: we are going to have to get the legs to work right. Hmm... I might do some experimenting later tonight. Carolly

heyse ( ) posted Thu, 06 June 2002 at 6:37 AM

Well, at this moment the tiger is temporarily offline. Just now when I need one. Is anybody by any chance willing to mail it to me? Preferabily 3dmax-format, but the poser version is also ok. Hey thanks. steven.heyse@belgacom.net

Lord_Blodgett ( ) posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 11:50 AM

I have had no luck getting the tiger. It has been temporarily offline for over a week now. :-( And me being a huge tiger fan is most distressed. Any idea of when it will be back online? Or anyplace ese I can find it? If anyone can send me a copy, I would be most grateful. lord_blodgett@yahoo.com

hauksdottir ( ) posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 6:56 PM

Sorry, Lord_Blodgett, The model is theirs to distribute; we can not redistribute models without specific permission from the makers. The website will most likely revive, but things take time to build and debug. Carolly
