Subject: Lens focal length?

I see alot about setting the focal lengths of the cameras... espically for close ups. What is a general rule and how does this effect quality/distortion etc.?

LisaB to the rescue! Check the link for her comparison of focal lengths. For close up portraits, I use 105 which I believe a lot of people use.

I ten to use 105 for just about every pict-- never go below 78. Check out my gallery and see if that looks weird. Emily

Personally I use 35 for landscapes, 55 for full body shots, 80 for half body shots and 100/125 for close-up. Axe

I use 100-120 for everything. I pseronally don't care for the look if it goes below 100. Just my own perspective on the subject. Melanie

That is a nice tutorial, but there are many unanswered questions... I finally just decided to use 100 for everything! Message671422.jpg
