Subject: Honor Character WIP - help?

Gorodin ( ) posted Sat, 18 May 2002 at 5:05 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 11:28 PM

Here is a portrait of my Honor character that I have been working on. Does anyone know where I can get some clothes for Stephanie that could pass for naval officer uniforms? I would prefer free, but if I get desperate enough and the clothes are high quality...

Oh, and that's Koz's hair and the lo-res steph texture

Looks quite good indeed. I only know of the uniforms that used to be on Iso's page-- they are not there now, so. . . And they were Minis, but that could have been adusted with magnets if necessary. Emily

There are tuts about how to retexture clothing models. You might want to pick some clothes that have the right shape and get busy in photoshop. Daz has tons of clothing packs too.

Yeah, I know... but finding clothes the right shape -- there's the rub.

throw some tight leather on her and you've got Trinity from The Matrix... Looking good :)

heres a picture...

Trinity's got a sharper nose, straighter jaw, pointer chin, non-asian eyes... but it is close, you are right. I could probably put some sunglasses on her and pass her off... (^_^)

If the Honor you're trying for has the last name of "Harrington", I'd point out that, contrary to the cover paintings, the books make it clear that Honor looks to be in her late teens/early 20s. Of course, no one actually thinks of her that way, and your picture is pretty darn good.

Gorodin ( ) posted Sat, 18 May 2002 at 10:01 PM

(^_^) You don't think she could pass for early 20s?

queri ( ) posted Sat, 18 May 2002 at 11:01 PM

Mid to late 20s is more like it-- she knows too much. Emily She's great though and rather different than anything I've seen out there.

Letterworks ( ) posted Sat, 18 May 2002 at 11:21 PM

Actually I like her as Captain Harrington. 'Course by the time she's an Admiral, one eye is artifical (or covered with a patch) and there is a stiffness, and/or slight distortion to the left side. Hope your find the right cloths, I for one would love to see renders of Honor and Farragut(sic?). I dont know if they are for Vicky/Steff or P4 but Bat Labs has some jacket/unifor/shirts and pants that might work. mike

Gorodin ( ) posted Sat, 18 May 2002 at 11:41 PM

Bat labs? where's that?

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Sun, 19 May 2002 at 2:38 AM

Link to B.A.T_laboratory

But the uniforms are for Posette, not Victoria/Stephanie.

Lyrra ( ) posted Sun, 19 May 2002 at 2:39 AM

Not sure about Stephanie clothes - but ... Look at Phil C (I think) for other naval related uniforms for Mike. (sale) Also, it's possible PWFW has outfits that are texturable for what you have in mind. (subscription) Lyrra

Bat Lab is here. Most of their stuff is for Posette or VickyP4.

If you want a Sci-Fi military uniform take a look at the 'Millennium StarShip Commanders' in the RuntimeDNA store.

I don't know if this helps, but this is the Stewardess outfit from DAZ, it's just been quickly recoloured. Just trying to remember what Demi Moore looked like in 'A Few Good Men'

Gorodin ( ) posted Sun, 19 May 2002 at 11:20 AM

The jacket might work with some cargo pants. I would probably need to adjust the mesh for a better fit. Most of these clothes fit like a canvas sack... Thanks

I'm a great fan off Weber's books and was thinking of taking a stab at some of the characters myself, but I haven't found really "accurate" uniforms either. The Starship Commander's one comes close, but it lacks the "Prussian Collar" and tutlenecked underblouse. The attached link is to a good reference site I found. -- Mark
