OK, inbetween work and various other responsibilities I have taken on in foolish over-estimation of my own abilities, (lol), I *think* I have started on a triptych image, with 3 panels, even. This is comprised of three photos of my decking, in the morning, with the sun casting shadows through the balustrades. Overlayed on top of this is a photo of venetian blinds. I have this thing about parrallel lines at the moment, obviously! Any and all comments welcome... :-)>

Quite nice patterns, PC. Would not have understood exactly what it was without your explanation. Good abstract. Works well with three; much better than any one alone.

Thanks Misha, here's a different version...

I love these--I think the second one in particular works well. The enhanced color helps, but I think it's more that the composition works better without the white boundaries between the panels. I wish I had seen/thought of that!

Certainly wonderfully trippy. Like Sue I prefer the second one, nice with the colors.

bevchiron ( ) posted Thu, 23 May 2002 at 11:44 AM

That second one really does it, my eyes are doing somersaults!! I think Sue is right, the lack of space between them really makes the most of the composition. I do like the first one, it has a much more detached abstract feel, makes me want to step back & see it really big on a wall, the second is more dynamic.

I have to disagree with the pack. I like the first one. The color in the second one keeps making my eye snap back to the left. -Taltos

im gonna go with the flow here and state for the record that im with the rest.... #2 does it for me.. but then i did take alot of drugs when i was young, lol. nice work, the colors work so well and the loss of the white bands just adds more to it as an illusionary piece. ok i gotta go now, i need to stop the spinning.lol

Misha883 ( ) posted Thu, 23 May 2002 at 5:53 PM

I think I like the color, but would tend to make the colors in the three panels play together more. The middle one looks uncolored. Maybe a gradient across all three? or a triad? I also tend to like the framing in the first one... Then again, never did get into the drug thing...

Thankyou for your opinions all...and for the feedback, it helps! Now, what can I say about my friends disagreeing with one another, in this wonderful place? @CrystalWiz, I did say any and all comments welcome and that means exactly that, I can take negative comments, I'm a big boy! It's a pity you removed your input as it may have highlighted something I had overlooked or not thought of. If your comments had no constructive element in them, and were just plain sarcastic/derogatory, then I could have handled that too! @Slynky, please, old friend, for my sake (I can't speak for Alpha & Sue), if you don't agree with the comments made by people, don't make it so personal in your reply! Simply register your difference in opinion and perhaps the rationale behind it. I always thought of the Photography Forum as a "home" or a big family that I could turn to away from my other responsibilities in life. As in all families we have our disagreements, personality clashes and the like, that is only natural...but when they start to divert us from the common purpose we are here for...the love and exploration of Photogaphy, then that can't be a good thing can it? Personal differences of opinion will always occur in a place like the Forum, but we can use them for constructive debate, surely? Hey, am I starting to sound like a moderator now??? But honest, I would have felt this way anyhow...we must move foward together and fight for

TRUTH, JUSTICE & THE PHOTOGRAPHIC WAY! Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now! :-)>

Yo! Punkclown SLAP! on the back love your pattern picture. Get a bit lost in it though :(, I think you need some focal point just to give the old eyes somewhere to rest, maybe a leaf or a frog, lol, something on the middle panel just to break up the pattern. Not sure about the colour one. I guess if you are going to use it in the trippy competition you will have to divide it up again. IDEA have you tried posterize this would really bring out the pattern of course it might just make it look naff, lol. Bigg Jeff rambles on his computer crashes, sigh! Not again!.

Thanks Bigg Jeff, I was thinking it might need somewhere to rest the eyes! I might just give that posterize idea a workout too! I appreciate the feedback! :-)>
