Subject: Help animation environment

I am just begining to explore animation and was wondering if it was posible to create a poser figure in poser, and a 3d environment in another program and then animate to figure in the 3d environment. Is this posible, what programs would I need, and how would I do it.

You have several options (None of them free!!)

Buy "naturalPose" from innuendo software
A PC only utility that imports poser animated character into bryce 3D

You can buy the poserpropack and if you have
Lightwave3D ,3Dstudio MAX or Cinema 4DXL version7
you wiil get free propackplugin that will let you
import your animated poser figure into their high end
3d invironments for MAC and PC

I use the poser to Cinema 4DXl plugin and it works flawlessly

Thank you, wolf459, but which of those three would you sugest for a beginer, and later which one should i move on to.(Just want to do some research before I invest my money)

I strongly recommedn cinema4DXl7
they are have a special side grade offer for
current owners of adobe illustrator,after effecst and photoshop.

$995 for version seven
cinema is a great high end package and very poser friendly.
and the cinema user base here is very receptive and helpful to poser related questions Unlike the light wave user base Which tends to be very hostile to poser users.

Certainly some of the LW base is but there's always a few of those in the crowd [grin]. I've been using Lightwave myself. I've never checked our C4D. I know wolf359 is passionate about it and from what I've seen of his work, it's working very well for him. I've just recently gotten the ProPack and started working in LW (although I've used LW for years doing other stuff). I've found the Poser / LW combination fairly easy to work with because I'm already familiar with LW. If you're just brand new at it, you might consider downloading the LW 7.5 demo from www.newtek.com. I believe the demo is included automatically in the 7.5 update. If C4D has a demo, I'd check it out too. We all have our unique quirks and preferences - you've got to figure what works best for you. Simply stated, high-end 3D can be a pretty complex beast to tame so take your time and choose your poison, er, I mean software, wisely.

Bob,
are you on a MAC or PC??
I never got the propack poser hosting plugin to work on the MAC for lightwave. :-(

curious labs sort of botched it for MAC LW users
hopefully the OSX version of the propack will be better for for bringing poser animation into lightwave
under OSX.
honestly i would have liked to be rendering my poser animations in lightwave but it just would not work so
i chose cinema for this task.

I'm on a 350 mhz G4 (1st generation!) running system 9.1 and 512 megs of RAM. I've got PoserProPack running with LW 6.5.

I've read that there were problems with PoserProPack and LW 7.0 - the threads seemed to indicate that it worked better with LW 7.0b.

I'm not sure how well it's (PoserProPack) working with LW 7.5.

I've been able to integrate Poser animations and have them actually interact with Lightwave stuff. I've found that when you import the Poser scene into LW, LW recreates all the objects as .lwo files. I take those files and refine the textures so everything looks better. I haven't tried changing the meshes or replacing objects yet but that'll come sooner or later. I actually render alot faster in Lightwave too - that's good.

In my case, Lightwave hasn't been a problem. I picked a humongous first project though, (a 4 piece rock band, 3 dancers, 6 armed warriors, and a baby - choreographed to an original piece of music) so I've been challenged by the sheer scope of what I'm trying to do. On second thought, maybe Lightwave has been a problem. It's expanded my possibilites so much that I don't have time to do everything I want. Work keeps getting in the way.

It's a curse [grin].

Thank goodness I don't have to model everything myself (as some would suggest!!!!)

I just put this up real quick tonight to show you the "Lightwave Drum Test." It (the page itself) ain't pretty but it is functional. I think. ;)

QuickTime is required!

The drummer and his sticks were animated in Poser. The drums themselves were animated in Lightwave. Everything was then rendered in Lightwave. It's pretty seamless.

I went ahead and added my "dude, you suck" and Dating 101 shorts (all done in Poser) 'cuz now & then I want to show 'em to friends. I believe all 3 are ready for Windows but if one of you PC users will double check to make sure they work I'd certainly appreciate it. I don't have a PC here at home to check it myself.
