Not everyone has Poser ProPack...would it be so much to ask to have rsr files included in all packages designed in ProPack? I just bought two items, and no rsr's..only png's..they show up as the shrugging guy, so I don't know what the heck I have...sorry..I'm a bit cranky tonight so this is bugging me.

Hi Destiny, I dont have pro pack either. :( Thats up to the merchants that make the products. You might try contacting them to see if they will supply you with the .rsr files. I think its a great idea for merchants to do this. Opens them up to a larger target audience. But, Its not a requirement. Clint

Get SENO Software's P3DO Explorer from Free Stuff. There's a plug-in that enables you to make .rsr's from .png's and vice versa. I used it to make the .rsr's for my restaurant set, since I do have Pro Pack. A damn handy little utility. In fact, I guess you could make a 91x91 pixel render, convert it to .png in Photoshop or any other app that lets you save .png files, and make a custom, rendered .rsr even if you don't have Pro Pack. Cool, huh? No more thumbs of hair that just show dots...

Having been on both sides of the coin (with and without Pro-Pack) I always package our products to include RSRs, PNGs, and MAT files that reference .bum maps and .jpgs. It takes just a little bit more time, and it really cuts down on customer service requirements.

It's pretty easy Destiny, I just downloaded it. I'm assuming you've unzipped everything. Then open the P3DO.exe. You're window will look like explorer has opened it. Go into the directory you want to convert the pngs to and then click on Tools/Convert rsr to pnj. There will be two raidio buttons, whatever, just check the png to rsr option.

Did that...it seems to have opened the pz3 files...so I tried to convert them...got this message: Files read (45) Files converted (0)

Oh, I didn't try it in a pose directory, I tried it in the props directory. I'll go have another look.

Hmm. You should be able to just browse to the folder you want, just like in Windows Explorer, say, Runtime/libraries/pose/New Standing Sets (or whatever), then when you click that folder, you'll see your .rsr pics (or .png pics for Pro Pack users). All right so far? Then, if you've installed the plug-ins (which you'll have to do to convert your files; you can download them from the same page as the main program, if you haven't already), go to "Tools" on the menu bar at top, click "Convert Rsr2Png" (which actually does the reverse, too), and the window for that will pop up, and it should be pretty self explanatory from there...;) If you have any other problems, send off an e-mail to Yarp, P3DO's creator. I had a problem with P3DO crashing on me, which we traced to my system not like the AWK plug-in for some reason. I removed that, and everything's been fine since. Yarp's a nice guy and will help you with anything he can.:)

See, I did that, just like you said, but I don't see .png files or .rsr files, what I see is .pz3 files ?

Oh, wait a minute, I think I'm beginning to see the problem here. I can't see the full file prefix but seeing as how these are pose files, they must be .pz2 files, not .pz3, which are scene files. I'm not trying to nitpick, but this is an important difference, because .pz2's are what you SHOULD be seeing. See, you're seeing the thumbnail for the pose file, the picture itself is the .png. You won't see it listed, but that's what you're actually looking at, and the file name underneath is simply the name of the file the thumbnail represents. Get it? Look at my screen shot. You're seeing my .png's, but the filename says .cr2. If you didn't have either a .png or .rsr for the character/pose/whatever, well... I'm not sure what you'd get, actually. The shrugging guy, no pic at all, an error message, I'm not sure. It's the thumbnail that you're looking at. You can't actually select it separately or anything, but then you don't need to. If you've downloaded and properly installed the Rsr2Png plug-in, just go to Tools, select the plug-in, and when the window comes up, make sure the radio button for ".Png to .Rsr" is selected and click OK. You should then get a window saying "Files read (45) Files converted (45)" (or however many poses you have in that folder). Now, you said that didn't work for you, that no files were converted. Are you SURE ".Png to .Rsr" was selected? Because obviously the ".Rsr to .Png" setting would get you nowhere. Simple mistake. And if it WAS selected but just isn't working, then... time to contact Yarp, because something's not working right. I hope that helps. Good luck.:)

I'm still a bit fuzzy this morning, so I could be mistaken here. Are you saying someone isn't seeing filename extensions? Maybe that is because Windows defaults to hiding file extensions for known types? That can be remedied by going into the Control Panel, then double-clicking Folder Options. See the screenshot. Ron
