THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Anyone know where I can get a used Bryce 4???

Patricia ( ) posted Fri, 24 May 2002 at 10:03 AM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 12:01 AM

I want to be able to export objects that I've created in the terrain editor and my Beloved Bryce 3D just can't do that. But I want to buy it 'legally' (if there is such a thing) so that I could upgrade to 5 when I can afford it. Can that be done??

Try E-bay....that's where I got mine for about $70 USD.

Yeap, ebay is a good source..

Aldaron, were you able to somehow register it in your name? The only way I can afford to get an up-to-date copy someday is if I can upgrade..... I have a copy of Photoshop 3, for example, that Adobe won't upgrade because a friend bought it, used it and then gave it to me. Are the Bryce people likely to be that stringent??

Yes it came with a cd key and all, just no printed manual. I've also updated to Bryce 5. Just make sure you are buying from someone you can trust. I got my copy from a software store. Some of these aren't even used but are new.

Better hurry up, there are only a few there. And some are new.

Wow......! But I'm going away in an hour or so and won't be able to bid after then. I've never bid in an online auction, either........ Do I need to like establish an account or something first? I have a feeling I'd better wait until we're back from our trip, research it thoroughly and then wait for a copy to show up and pounce on it. Thank you so much for the pointers! Have yourselves a nice holiday weekend, if you're US, or a nice regular weekend if you're not B^)

Yes you need to register but it's free.

When bidding on eBay, make sure to take note of the location of the seller. Try not to buy anything from Moscow as most of those programs appear to be bootleg. I've read complaints in the feedback about "Corel" not honoring the CD key for upgrade because the software is illegal. Read the seller's feedback. You'll be able to pick up on a pattern if one exists. The Bryce lots available right appear fine for bid though. Caveat Emptor!

Ask corel, maybe it's possible to upgrade Bryce3D to Bryce5 too. That way you don't need a bryce 4 at all. I've seen a bryce 5 for $105 but that's the academic version, so you need to prove you're a student to buy it.

I do (also) believe corel will upgrade any Bryce version to Bryce 5.

I don't know where you live, but I'm near Syracuse NY. Purchased a brand new Bryce 4 (upgrade version) at a computer show for $99. It's a freestanding program - no prior version was required (luckily!) Now if I could just figure out how to use the darned thing! If there are computer shows where you live (we have them monthly) I would highly recommend it. I have purchased the "last version" of many programs this way. If you don't like it, you're not out that much and if you do like it you can get a break on the upgrade in most instances.

You purchased an "upgrade version"...but..."no prior version was required"? Hmmm... It's still cheaper to buy online at the place I gave above ($78.99) AgentSmith

I'm selling my Bryce4 and Strata3D Pro for $200 for both. I have Cinema4DXL7 now.
