Subject: purposel to artist and poser model makers

MRBLAZE ( ) posted Sun, 26 May 2002 at 4:50 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 11:31 AM

I have a purposel wanted to know how many poser model makers and artis would be interested? I have a program that I hadn't had time to learn how to use but might be useful to you guys wondering if you might be interested. This program makes setup unpackers. For example DAZ 3d has those unpakers for his models and clothing packs this program I have does the same thing. I been reading up on it. turns out that i can make exe and uninstall unpackers for new software and utilities with serial number protection i guess not 100% sure But would you be interested in having your models and cloths in an exe unpacker professionally done like daz 3d and other merchants where it automatically sends the files into poser with a double click. the reason i ask i notice a lot of freelance artist that make models and clothing packs has it where you download and have to put everything manually into poser which is kinda suck if your a newbie and don't know where everything goes=( IM currently reading up on it. I wouldnt charge money instead maybe a favor for a favor type thing. see i outright suck at poser when it comes to creating my Owen stuff=( So maybe a trade for a service example I make an unpacker for you and depending on what you plan to do with it I get a service in return. Example you intend to give it freely and upload it on your site in that case I ask for a custom made outfit or weapon for poser 4 by you. You intend to market it and sale a model or an awesome clothing pack and want serial registration protection in that case id want what you saleing that I made the unpacker for lol for free. You intend on making me make you like ten professionally made unpackers a lot of work involved id ask for a custom model or clothing pack. IM going to put up a list of what this program can do and maybe you'd want me to work for you. Algain IM not into money I just suck at making my Owen stuff so I figure a service for a service. Id like to see a list that you think would be fair a service for a service trade which is benfithial to both you and me. pleas this will take some time as i just now started reading on how to use this program i just want to know if you guys might be interested is all

Mostly people here just use folder-enabled zips. They tend to work just fine. Exe files can be tempermental - and remember not all makers or users here are on PC, we have a good chunk of Mac users. Personally I never download exe files unless from a reputable commercial firm, or artist I know personally. And even those get virus checked. Lyrra

There a several free ones available at many freeware sites around the net. Besides, file management and file types are a necessary evil for 3d software users that all newby's MUST learn. Another point is cross platform compatibality. you'd have to make two differant file for each machine type, which would clutter the free section even more. The final point that I would make is you get access to many models without the work. I takes you ten minutes to create a selfextractor and the "favore" you ask may take days or even weeks to create. Not a good cost benifit ratio.

There a several free ones available at many freeware sites around the net. Where the one im learning to use cost $395.00 dollars i very much doubt those can do whatr this one can lol. install will run on all 32 bit Windows platforms. This includes everything from Windows 95, through 98, ME, NT4, 2000 and even Windows XP. "favore" you ask may take days or even weeks to create. Not a good cost benifit ratio. thats why i said this Id like to see a list that you think would be fair a service for a service trade which is benfithial to both you and me. lol im a newby when i meant an item i meant like a prop a gun or a dragoon caine i doubt very much that would take days lol if it does then you suck worst then i do and im at the very bottom lol=) for a bunch of them a model lol but this is good to know i can stop reading on how to use this program since no ones intrested it be a waist of my time if anything ill make professional software installation wizards for my owen useage lol. but thx for the feed back i could had waisted hours learning this stuff when i could had been learning poser related stuff. pose is an adiction lol=)

Okay, MRBLAZE, my thoughts are....you are getting into this "cottage" industry strictly for the money. my thoughts are...you do not even care enough about poser and what it entails to even try it out. hey, now...it is harder than it looks. i sincerely suggest...if you "suck" at making stuff for poser; you put your nose to the proverbial grindstone, and, at least become "adequate" with this wonderful...strike that...somewhat mediocre figure building program....before you think of what you can "sell" to poser consumers. give us a break. some of us even attempted/passed college. just inputtin' my Pop....Pop....Poppi!!!

I think there is something weird about you MrBlaze. Why are your messages so full of spelling and grammatical errors?! Many other people who speak English as a second language do far better than you. So far you've been involved in two threads which seek to start trouble here. You were flirting on the edge of piracy, now you think you'll get people to pay for your wonderful installation services. You don't even take the time to know this community. And when others set you straight, you don't bother to listen. I think you're not who you pretend to be. I think you're actually someone else. I think you could write better messages if you tried. Why not try being yourself, and try learning about this community?!

MRBLAZE ( ) posted Sun, 26 May 2002 at 11:36 PM

=) what lol nope im me bad spelling gramer and all you can make fun of it all you want it dosent bother me one bit lol. it isnt the comunity thats the problem its people that need to take de caf coffe that have nothing better to do then shoot dowen peole cause they have difrent ideals lol. and no i wasnt on no edge of piracy it be stupit to anounce it to the world its you few quick to suggest such things that seem to have it on your mind. nope only trouble i seem to be starting is those willing to kick me and assume i wont kick back or reply back if defending my self is trouble then thats just sad i think every one has the right to defend them self's will at least thats my opnione. i happend to like this comunity even if 8 of you dont seem to like me but its a big world hopefuly ill make some frinds no doubt enmys as well but thats life hugs laters

ronknights ( ) posted Sun, 26 May 2002 at 11:49 PM

DOH, let me try some logic here. You asked for help with some zipped files that required a password. Now you're offering to make installation files that require passwords. You have this $395.00 dollar program that would do this job for us?! All we need to do is give you everything in return for your services? Gosh, now why do these events all seem to come together in some funny way?! Why do you continue to belittle the Renderosity Community, and threaten us?! Your words are laughable. Now take the time to use proper spelling, punctuation and etiquette. Or go away and come back with your true identity, and be civil then too. I think you're really just a troll, looking to see what kind of reaction you'll get from us. DOH Message671422.jpg

Mr. Blaze, I try to not be judgemental about individuals and try my best to keep rude comments to myself but Sir...you are seriously starting to get on my nerves. It isn't your gramatical errors or your grasp of the English language that I am annoyed about...gods only know how many wonderful overseas members this community has that have Engish as their second language! It is your general attitude towards fellow community members and your juvenile responses to perfectly legitimate questions that gets my knickers in a twist! Please rethink your comments before you post and I believe you will find the members here will be more amiable towards you. Flame me if you will...I'm just stating an opinion. Cheers, -Des

Who'da thunk it ? Ron, I agree with you. Blaze, dahling, the 3d Community is a pretty aware and tolerant crowd, mostly. If someone states you're getting on their nerves, and ask you to play nice, please pay attention to that, and change your behaviour acccordingly. Otherwise you"ll just prove you're the 15 year old wannabe I suspect you to be. Also, emotes like "smacks upside the head " may be fun in chatrooms, but here they're just deemed less than intelligent. ~S (btw, how come you have 400 USD software when you have no money ? )

ScottA ( ) posted Mon, 27 May 2002 at 1:37 PM

The packaging software that MRBLAZE is referring to is a full blown program that allows you to set up very cutsomized .exe installations. And I'm sure it includes some sort of compiler of some sort as well. It's the kind of software that companies use to package their program files into an .exe to sell publicly. I have one of those full blown programs myself. The freeware .exe making software that most of you all here are familiar with. Is just a very simple, stripped down version of this. And is all anyone needs to package Poser related files into an .exe file. The fact that MRBLAZE doesn't even know exactly what the specific use for that software he has in his hands is enough proof for me that he's a warez kiddie. But that really doesn't matter. The software he's useing is overkill for packaging Poser files. You don't need an expensive packager to create .exe's that simply put files in specfic folders. You can download free .exe inspection programs that will show you the content of an un-executeded .exe file. That way you can check to see if there is a virus in it before executing it. Because of all of this: Charging people to convert files to .exe is not a needed service. We can do it on our own with freeware. ScottA

To quote spinner, "Who'da thunk it?" I agree with Ron, also. But, this topic has actually been brought up in both the Merchants forum (and possibly) here: The idea is that someone (usually unknown to the community) comes in and "generously" offers to package your Marketplace item into a self-extracting exe/zip file, for your customers' "convenience". In exchange for his "hard work", you agree to give him a copy of your for-sale items. And, although he doesn't state this, he puts your items up on peer-to-peer networks, sharing FTP sites, etc. Some questions to ask: Who is this guy? What are his motives? Why does he just show up, out of nowhere, and offer his services? Why is he asking for YOUR Marketplace items as "payment", especially if he, himself, says that he "sucks" at using Poser? It seems a little odd that: 1) someone can afford a $395.00 "installer" program but they can't afford the $220 (or less) Poser CD! 2) he is "considering" the Macintosh market- unless he has a "hybrid" installer package, it's not going to work. After all, self-extracting "exe" files don't work on a Mac! --John

Unless you've gotten your hands on Vise... (That's what I think it's called) (or maybe it's just big words for an Alladin copy ;-) ) I am sure there are... creative licensing and acquirement sites for macs too, where you can get stuff like this. ~S

Well I'm certainly glad people agree to be suspicious of this "johnny come lately" "mrblaze." I wonder if he isn't someone else we know, with a different name?! But come on now, what's so wrong with agreeing with me?! Geesh you'd think I was some oddball with an unpopular, irrational personality. I'd be offended by those comments if I wasn't happy you're smart enough to agree on this issue. Message671422.jpg
