THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Bryce 5 quits in OS 10

Anyone else have this problem? When importing an obj, I get a message dialog box saying that I need to find the texture map in the next dialog box that appears. Bryce quits just as I click either cancel or ok. Every single time. Any ideas on how to solve this?

Do you have the B5.1 patch applied?

I had a similar problem using a *.jpg as a Texture. But it worked a day later. OS X.1, Bryce 5.1. Maybe it has something to do with the *.mtl File (Texture Information) that usually is generated with an *.obj File. Try another Format - dxf?

Yes, I applied the 5.1 patch. And since I use downloaded models exclusively, I have no choice but to use what I can get. Sometimes, the only option is an obj. Thanks for the replies.

This is a shot in the dark, but it has, at times helped me when a downloaded .obj, didn't like to be loaded. It's a freeware 3d file format translator. Try converting your model to a .3ds, or whatever, see if you can make it work.

turn off os9 in background- X works better alone for me.

Workaround solution.
If you restart your Mac in OS 9 instead of OS 10 you can import objects in and then save them. Then change your startup disc back to OS 10 and restart. Then you have all your objects and your working in OS 10.

Here's your solution, if you haven't found it yet... when importing your .obj file into bryce, make sure the texture images are in the same folder as the .obj and .mtl files. I came across this a few months ago and that's the only solution I could find.

I've used the same solution as JMPerkins. That is putting all files associated with the OBJ in the same folder. It's a pain for sure. Don't forget you need ALL the textures.
