I am dumbfounded by this software, it's absolutely amazing, I've created a few pics but as I am still new to all this, I need some suggestions as to what other software is needed for making masterpieces such as the ones I've seen from you guys, or is Vue 4 all I need? Also, Is there anywhere I can get free downloads of animals/characters/buildings/plants as I would like to expand my library of objects. Any advice or suggestions would be great. Thankyou.

The links page at the E-on Software website (http://www.e-onsoftware.com/Community/Ressources.php) will guide you to some nice sites with free downloads, some of them belonging to the talanted people who frequent this forum. Vue will take you very far in making great images. However, a good software for post processing of the rendered images is nice to have. PaintShop Pro or Photoshop are widely used. For bringing characters into your images, Poser is the software to use. Vue will import Poser scenes directly, with textures and all. Poser is a great software in itself and Renderosity has a very vivid Poser community that will give you all the support you need. Modelling objects is not easy in Vue, since you only have primitives to work with. For more advanced modelling, there is a multitude of softwares out there. Lightwave, TrueSpace, Amapi, Carrara, Rhino etc. It's a matter of personal preference and/or budget. Many of them have evaluation versions you can try first. Vue has possibilities to import many of the formats that these softwares uses.

Even if you don't have any other software then Vue, you can create nice images. Personnally I never postwork my Vue pictures, because a well worked Vue image doesn't need any postwork. You can get some free modelers and lots of free stuff for Vue 4 here at Renderosity Vue free stuff place

The best package you can get in addition to Vue is Corel Draw. Corel Draw consits of a drawing package, and a brilliat bitmap editor, Corel Photopaint. Now, this package costs in around 400 pounds uk for version 10. BUT, there is a release of version 8 called Corel Essentials (I think) for about 60 pounds uk. This package allows you to all sorts of pre and post production. I've even used it to master the parts for a beam engine, brought into Vue as terrains. If you haven't already got it, I can highly recommend it. Photopaint on its own is worth the money, it makes Adobe photoshop look like the over priced badly designed app it is.

Hey ComaLock, before you go I opened the 3D can of worms by buying Vue..Keep your eye on computer magazines especially mags like '3D World' you will pick up some amazing free software by doing this, for example: poser 3, Cinema 5 SE ,Amapi 5, D scupltor, truespace SE ,Amorphium 1 and the list goes on and on . Sooner or later youi are going to want to build your own models, this really brings your work alive, so you are going to want a good modeller. You could do very well by picking up a copy of Amapi or dounload Wings3d from www.wings3d.com. for little or no cost you will bolster your 3D 'Arsenal'. My only warning to you is this...this way of making art is so good, so addictive that you could eventually find yourself "needing" Lightwave or Cinema XL7 or Maya...prepare to be very poor, have fun mate, good luck

Thanks for the tips Tony.Ive become so addicted to Vue already, my fiance is getting a little annoyed at the amount of time I spend in front of my Pc. Could Vue d'Esprit break up a relationship? Hahaha hopefully not :) I have read and seen a little of Lightwave and other 3d software and it has definitely wet my appetite, but I'll go easy on purchasing too much at the moment. I still want to be able to pay my rent at the end of the week. :)

Is there a reason to go Vue 4 instead of Corel Bryce?

hmmmm, I can only say, I have Bryce 4 & 5, had them for a while then I bought Vue 4.....now I can say, I use only Vue....download Vue demo and decide between the 2, it is a personal thing...Sharen
