"had literally 5 minutes to spare, so dived to the beach and whipped it out. A woman screamed so I put it away and got the SLR out instead" ROFL! God you make me laugh Mike. Good result with lighting and range of tone here. Alpha's a good teacher, and so is Michelle, although I'm still trying to work out what the lesson was behind her thread to you with the caterpillar-thingy happening/thing...! (thought it best not to ask...) :-)>
Ok...you had me LMAO...and I'm glad to see at least some of it stuck...Alpha is such a patient soul...unlike myself. This image looks good as far as I can tell...if this is an untouched scan...it's very good. What kind of film did you use? Here's another tip: (remember that lightmeter in your camera?) 1. Color film- expose for highlights 2. B&W film- expose for shadows 3. Never "whip it out"....the fast swinging action could break it.
I am, therefore I create.......

ROFL! You guys ; ) That is a nice shot Jordy, I agree with PC about the light & tones. Keep it up (I shouldn't have said that...)

ko, those of you who've been here a while know I've got minimal experience with film. You newbies have NO idea.....lol Anyways, I'm gonna start by saying thanks to Michelle, but especially to Alpha. Last Friday I had an all-nighter, a substantial amount of which was chatting to these two renegades. Michelle got sick of my ignorance and bombed out, but Alpha stuck with it and VERY patiently explained some basic SLR facts to me. You have NO idea how patient he was... my knowledge sucked. Anyways, Alpha eventually got into my head the correlation between f-stops and shutter speed, and sent me away with some cracking tips. Which I subsequently ignored ;-) Well, sort of. During the week I had literally 5 minutes to spare, so dived to the beach and whipped it out. A woman screamed so I put it away and got the SLR out instead. I didn't have time to follow Alpha's advice re cards with the settings on, or even have the chance to write them down, so I worked through them in a vague order. Anyways, got the film back today, and I have to admit I'm just a little bit chuffed with myself! Ok, sharpness is lacking on a couple, but I was working on the lightness of the pics and didn't have time to use the tripod. But in general, I'm impressed with myself, with only 2 shots out of the 24 not proving the issue. And one of them is a cyclist going past with a cute butt.....grin However - one downer..... I've just found out how absolutely crap my scanner is. Evidence below - the picture is like 250% better than this scan, but i decided not to adjust it in any way. Thanks for listening! (",)
