Subject: Ok, ok, so I just had to know!

I am re-installing everything and realizing how much Poser stuffage I have, couldn't figure out what was taking so long. I have my Poser directory on another drive and was curious about it and did a properties on the folder. Sheeeesh! Files: 40,984 Size: 12.3 gigs And that's without all the freebies I've been downloading for the last year. Addiction, ain't it grand? Just curious if anyone else has checked the growth of their Poser baby lately. lol Marque

Oh gods, we have a 18.6 hardrive currently and all that is installed is Everquest, Photoshop with a ton of plugins and Poser...there's barely 4 gigs free after all that. Poser taking up roughly 9 gigs. eeeek

Damn....I just started with poser about a month ago, and didnt have that much HD space left anyway....I have to go and buy a new one this weekend anyway...so I guess I will take your warnings and make it a big one. Rawn

I seem to have about 23,000 files and Poser takes about 7.56 gigs space on my hd. In addition to that I think I have about 600 zips still waiting to be installed. Not bad, considering I've been doing this for two years already :) I keep removing stuff I'm not that likely to use...

I had to go to 40 gig hard drive and poser told me yesterday I didn't have enough hard drive to render....

I seem to recall backing up all my downloaded poser stuff recently, freebies and purchases alike. I took all the zip files, made sure they were installed (that's another story altogether, how many I had that I had never unzipped) and put them all on a CD....it maxed the space on a 76 Mb CD and that was all ZIPPED FILES!!!

My Poser stuff spread out on several harddisks and on a bunch of backup CD's is a total of well over 40GB, a lot of it still unzipped. Grows by about 2-3GB per month. Scary! :] FishNose

Does having propack, with JPG bump maps, help to trim it? My Runtime was just under 8GB, with over 2GB of BUM files, last time I looked.

I just backed up all my Bryce and Poser stuff onto CDs - finished about a week ago. It only took 31 of the 700Mb CDR's. I have another 7 full CDs of nothing but zip files that I had already saved & deleted from my 40Gb hard drive. CGjunkie? Who me? You betcha! (Charter Member of CyberPackRats Anonymous)

starmkr: Do you have Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP? Poser sometimes gives that insufficient disk space error message when you're rendering. It usually means there is a conflict between Poser and your Windows 2000/XP swap file. My easy fix was to put Poser on its own 30GB hard drive. I still get the error once in a great while. That means it's time to defrag the hard drive. Of course if your hard drive is literally stuffed, then you are out of room, grin.

I just did the upgrade to XP and spent about 4 hours putting all my poser stuff back on. After I backed up all my downloaded files (free stuff and purchases) I ended up with 5 700mb cds full of stuff... NO, I am not addicted at all... :P I will say that since upgrading from ME to XP, my poser runs better then ever! Briggie

I've got 11453 files in 751 folders and it weighs in at a trim 1.82 gig, and I've got 14 gig of stuff waiting to be burnt on cd, I might just have enough cd's for all of it if i'm lucky. Rob

To answer Rhaseltines question, just used Paintshop Pro to convert some BUMs to JPEGS for a transfer to a new computer (Im going mobile!). BUMs totalled 620Mb, JPEGs totalled 19.5 Mb. Saving: 600Mb of hard disk space. Nice.

Only FIVE CD I have maybe 60-70. Of course I need to reorganize, and take out some duplicates.

Yeah, I thought it would be a big difference, thanks Routledge. Still probably cheaper to buy a bigger HD though.
