LOL! Sue, that's inspiring! I seldom seem to have time to read anything lately but suggestions will be welcome. Non photo related reading can & does affect my photography, any new ideas can filter through into an image, maybe prompt an interest in a different subject or a new way of looking at things.

"Photos That Sell" by Lee Frost Its a good book that also tells you that you won't get rich quick. Its given me some ideas!!!

"National Geographic Photography Manual" The first half of the (large pocket) book is about basics, very usefull basics....second half is awesome, with the famous NG photographers writing down their own experience in their specific type of photography, a long with some of their photos and very usefull hints. Usefull for everyone =)

I'm reading the rosity foto-forum, that's aboot it. ooo, and get this... im turning my Yashica Electro 35 (shytty batteryless/dead) camera into a pinhole camera...

I'm still reading and re-reading John Shaw's Nature Photography Field Guide the best book I've ever come across for learning the basics. ...plus my monthly issues of American Photo, PC Photo, and Pop Photography. Of the mags...I love American Photo, many inspirational photographers are highlighted every month, as well as book reviews and such.

Q. What photo-related reading am I doing? A. NOTHING! (Kill me... kill me now...) However, several unfinished non-photography books are piled up on my bed, including The Silmarillion, Children Solve Problems, Hardboiled Wonderland, American Gods... i find all of the photo magazines incredibly f'in boring. So much fluff, and no substance; the articles suck big time in them. The magazines i cant get enough of are Wired and Communication Arts. Yesterday, i also picked up a magazine called Print, and its in the same vein as comm arts. Those things just get me off! for reading, i think i'm gonna pick up Unfinished Tales by Tolkien, supposed to be very cool.

Alright you're a lame-o.....! But seriously it's called being an individual and having your own interests....thank God we're all different, it would be quite boring if we all liked the same things.

I check out American Photographer. ( You should check out May issue slynk there is some good stuff there ), Fashion Mags, and comics for ideas. UH. XXL pop mag and CA magazine. Sue does watching a documentary about Ansel Adams count? Bsteph

SueO...Another one to steer clear of is "Doing Documentary Work" by Robert Coles. A real snoozer.... Currently working on the non-photo related complete works of H.G. Wells, and the employment section of the paper.

Starshuffler: Good luck with The Silmarillion! It's a much easer book to read if you change all the characters names to "Bob". For myself, nothing photo related at the moment (well, not true. I'm with Slynky, I read this forum almost every day). Non-photo related: "Frogs to Princes", which is definately making me look at people differently, "Peoplemaking" cuz I'm a parent, and the Gods know we need all the help we can get, and anything I can get my hands on by Steven Brust.

Ohhh...hello...ummm, lets see. I just purchased a second hand copy of the Time-Life Photography Library series books: "Great Photographers 1890-1960", which has some very interesting examples of each individual era's artists and their works, with a short bio on each...some of the photos I have never seen before, quite interesting! I also bought a new copy of "Avedon-The Sixties" From the library I have borrowed and am currently reading "The History of Photography" by Beaumont Newhall...not bad, and "The Aperture Masters of Photography" series book on Dorothea Lange, which has a small essay on her, but mainly features some of her inspiring photographs! that's enough I think, for the moment anyway... ;-)>

Nice one Michelle, glad you found time to check Creative monochrome out, the guy there really works hard on his publications. I first found them when I was working in Black & White, the Mono magazine was great. Its hard to find a magazine where the bias is towards the images and the readers work and not all the gizmo stuff. :o)
