Subject: Oh my...everyone wants a forum....BUT...how about a writer's forum?

Poppi ( ) posted Sat, 01 June 2002 at 7:15 PM · edited Wed, 12 February 2025 at 7:05 PM

All right...yeah, i miss my old c&d...why? because we often shared our ideas via "language". i know that a picture is worth a thousand words. so, how many words is "vicki in the temple, with a semi automatic, 2 tigers, a saber, and, no ken...oops, michael, number 2097," worth? i posted a little question in the poser forum, regarding "who we 'are". it had a very good response. folks do seem to want to share their "inner" selves. but, sometimes, it takes me too long to pose it in poser, uvmap it, and texture it, make props that are relevant...(come on....no prop maker can be entirely in my own mind...no, no, no..) then, render it in bryce on this craptaceous machine. why would such a forum be valuable. you may not have asked this question. i anticipated that. it would be valuable to all for descriptions of gallery renders that would entice the viewer to comment, vote, and, look forward to more posts by the artist. it would be valuable in working up a vocabulary and "style" for those of you who would like to pursue your 3d art as an avocation. for the character/comic creators....well, you would benefit by learning the best way to describe your latest character. we all could learn by getting feedback on how to get that latest scenario, for your latest creation, out of our heads. Admins...please don't dismiss this as frivolous. i think the "writing" was what made c&d so hot. i have a bird, a business, a boyfriend, and, am buying a condo...not alot of time. however, i would gladly oversee such a new forum. thanks for your time, all.... keep good, Pop...Pop...Poppi!!!

Hi Poppi from all of us Ken's (LOL) I've been wondering about a writers forum also. I can see all kinds of ways for cross discipline contest. Imagine someone makes a picture. Post a writers contest, with various prizes to tell a story from the picture. The winners story go back to the artist groups as another contest to illustrate some scenes from the story. LOL...we both must be great minds. Seems as if we think alike. there are so many, many benefits that I can see to having a writer's forum. heck...it sure wouldn't hurt any of us. Poppi ;*)

Hmm, I already see some interesting stories developing here and a tie-in to Sipapu's request for a collaboration forum/space. I know myself that coming up with kids stories would be cool. Idea's are sometimes illusive though and ideas/feedback from others would be great!

It's funny you brought this up cause I've been pestering my friends in the chat room for weeks if they knew of any sites like Renderosity but for writers. Just so I could do a contest cycle like the one described.

I like the idea, Poppi... kbennet might be a good person to send toward this thread... he seems to be a writer - type, too. ( Just my impression ). Paul

"it would be valuable in working up a vocabulary and "style" for those of you who would like to pursue your 3d art as an avocation.... we all could learn by getting feedback on how to get that latest scenario, for your latest creation, out of our heads." This seems like a neat idea, Poppi. In the event that a new forum isn't established, do you think you could still do something like this in Art Theory? Here's a link to that magazine-writing workshop. It's in the Magazine Interact forum. ;-)

A writers forum would be awsome, especially for those of us who only make visual art to explain stories that we can't write down. :)

In my experience, a "combined" writer and artist is excellent. I am fortunate enough to have talents in both areas. Yes, my writing is better than my art. If it weren't for Poser, I'd never have been able to illustrate Obviosity Curiosity, my book of Children's Poetry. Yes, I'd love to see a Writer's Forum. But my point is that we can sometimes have "multi-talented" people who will be in both the Writers and Artists Forums.
