Subject: HELP!: Need Final Word on conversion of P4 BVH to Millenium Figures?

Hi everyone- Is there a way to convert P4 mocap (BVH) data for the millenium figures? I've heard a lot of different things, but I am wondering if anyone had results with any specific approaches to making P4 BVH files work with The millenium figures. Thanks. Aharon

I've found the BVH files from the Santa Monica collection tend to push the shoulders up too high. A simple solution: lower the shoulder in the first frame and adjust the upper arm to suit, in the graph editor you'll see the difference between the first and second frames, highlight the remaining frames, hold down the control key and drag the rest in line (allows you to drag perpendicularly). The figures are also on the midline (through the floor) there are several ways to adjust, I think the simplest is to press 2 on the keyboard and simply slide the figure up on the body's Y. The frame rate is about 24 fps too, I personally like 12 fps for web work, retime animation solves this, just retime to half what you start with and delete the unwanted frames, tends to make it more manageable too....

Thanks. It moving the frames doesn't work perfectly but it helps. It seems like the millenium body parts don't accept some BVH data - for example, some of the body parts don't bend - they just hang around, like the body part name is different then the P$ body part name... Aharon

Ahh, I wondered after I posted whether that's what you meant. I've heard reports that that's the case. I used one of the standard lo-res figures, saved it as an animated pose and applied that to the millenium figures. You still get reports of nodes missing right at the start but that doesn't seem to matter. Mine isn't the most powerful of computers so I rarely use Millenium figures for initial posing. Mike seems to be about the best at following a lo-res figure, Steph's not bad too but Eve is fabulous, wish she had better texture support...

I have been using the MegaMoCap CD put out by Credo Interactive. I have been having the same problem with the shoulders being too low so I wish to thank you for the tips on how to correct it. The message that I get is that there is no information for the fingers.

Oh those hands! I've made a whole library of different hand shapes and apply those at random unless they're close to the body, in which case they need more care...

Thanks everyone.
