Subject: e-on software support gone?

Hmmm... Well, e-on has installed a new technical support center and a knowledge base at their website that is supposed to provide support for users, but I can't find any way to notify them of bugs (ie. bugs in Vue 4).

In the recent past, I've been trying to discreetly notify them of bugs, but now this seems to be impossible.

I sent a bug report to Steve Bell a few days ago, but I haven't received a response. Plus, the former technical support e-mail box returns a auto-response now.

I guess I could go back to stirring the pot here at Renderosity. What do you all think about this turn of events?

Charles, just be a little patient. Steve is the only one who answers to all requests. Think that you are not the only person to write to him. He sure will treat your mail, but he needs time to do so. And Steve not only answers requests, but develops Vue also. If you have told him a bug, there is no really need for an answer. He will consider your writing. On other part, many people write there for "bugs" which are not really bugs. That's why, always before writing to e-on about a "bug", first ask here if others have the same problem. You also can imagine that real bugs may have already reported to them before you did so, also there is no need for an answer, as they are already aware about it. Technical support is working well at e-onsoftware. But again: every body should limit his (heir) writing to them to real technical problems. Many questions find an answer here, many supposed bugs are none. Guitta

Okay, Guita, I agree that it's a good idea to get others to verify a bug.

However, I'm very disappointed in e-on for pulling the technical support link off of their web site. The only reason I had Steve's e-mail address is it came from bug reports that I had previously sent to e-on.

Hi there,

We have switched to an online technical support system because we feel that it is the only way to ensure top quality support for our customers. Although most of you appreciated the quality of our e-mail support, some people felt that responses were coming too slowly...

The basic information necessary for us to answer the question was not always provided; we had to exchange e-mails to get that information, with an obvious negative effect on response time. The new system ensure that we get a minimum of information.

As time passes and more entries get added to the knowledge base, users should be able to find answers to most of their questions immediately. This means that our support staff will be able to concentrate on new issues, rather than spend time answering the same question over and over again...

Charles, regarding bug reports, the best would be that you post them to the Technical Support Center, in the "Vue d'Esprit 4, Solving a software issue" section. We will see your report just the same, and other users will also be able to read it and add their own comments if they want.

Please be sure that we have introduced this new system to further improve the quality of our support, not to discontinue it! Let me know if you have any more questions about the new system.

Best regards.
Steve Bell.

Thanks Steve for the tip. It wasn't clear to me that the Tech Support Center was a forum. I will use the Technical Support Center in the future.

I do have one question regarding the tech support part on e-on's site. Maybe I just missed it but I was wondering if there is a way to browse all of the knowledge base articles without doing a search. Sometimes searchs dont work the best and I'd like to be able to browse other posts. Just wondering. Thanks, Randy
