Does anyone know how to extract a model from a computer game? I would like to extract some of the airplane models from Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator and import them into Lightwave. If anyone could help me this would be greatly appriciated. THANKS!!!

How come you just dont model it yourself? You do know you have the best modeling program in world right? Most of those models they use in those games are ultra low polys and can be done really quick. If you can extract the textures they can be used for templates. Hope this helps.

Use GMAX, I believe you can not only extract the models but create your own as well. Sadly, you won't be able to get them into LW but with GMax, you won't need too.

In response to the first question.....I just got Lightwave and I'm a real noob at it so I was going to "borrow" one of thier models and take it apart to see how they did it. It's alot harder than Poser or Bryce lol. Anyway I might try GMAX because the model files are .mdl format so I will see if it will import them somehow THANKS!

You can use 3d Exploration and then export as a lightwave file. Ron

Well its apparently another wonderful Microsoft product either that or the mdl files aren't the actual model files... anyway anyway I dl a demo of exploration and it says that the file is either empty or unsupported... O well I guess i'll just have to learn the hard way ;)
