driving home on the interstate today,
saw "ROAD CONSTRUCTION" ahead....
ok, heavy machinery....
slow moving traffic jam, 5-10 mph....
re-paving left lane....hmmmm
maybe get another welcome to the machine series shot...
driving with left hand, camera in right hand, reach over to driver side window, hold up camera, shooting off the hip as it were...without looking through the viewfinder...
well got home and my big shot turns out to be...
ooops!
Nice reflection in the window Jack, I'd just have to play around with that, there's often potential for a new image in our mistakes! Crystal that is just plain weird, maybe bonbon's right!!
"You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star...." (Nietzsche)
And, dear Crystal, you say that the pic you show us here is a "goof"..?!
If you're trying to say that the result is "only by chance" (hence the "oops"), than understandable...
...But, I find the pic you've post to be a very fine one to show how "imbalanced" pictures can be superbly abstract and dynamic..!
Such results are generally achieved by chance, but working on them and getting lessons would provide a valuable and experimental way of approach to POV and composing, which in turn would provide a valuable technique to one's repertoire...
...I think.
As a personal critique, I would say without hesitating that the images I produce are generally "balanced more than necessary", and I would have liked very much to be able to shoot porposefully imbalanced pictures "knowingly"...

here's an idea.... everybody posts their best stuff or stuff that they are trying to really improve on..... try this.... post a "not so good of a shot", a flub, a goof, a...well post a shot that really bites and explain what you were trying to do.....that didn't work.....at all...or even less....you know just crap!
