Subject: Anaglyph...Stereophonic pics with Red/Blue Glasses

I just went to an Imax Cinema showing 3d films. It was more than amazing. So I now have the 3d bug. I am looking for tutorials and links relating to Anaglyph (Red/Blue 3d glasses) pics using Poser. I have checked the Archives and there were threads talking about this but their links are dead. Can any of you help me in finding tutorials, pic galleries and software relating to this interesting form of art? 3dfilmdag

Hmmm ... I don't remember the threads about using red/blue glasses. I do remember one using the 'cross your eyes and focus' method. It was pretty simple to set up. After setting up your scene, render and save the image. DollyX the camera so that you get about 1/4 inch horizontal difference from the first render, render the scene and save the image. Take the two images into Photoshop, PSP, PhotoPaint, whatever and paste them side-by-side into a new image. Now the hard part and it does take some practice. Place your line of sight center to the monitor and about 18-24 inches from the screen. Cross your eyes till you see the two images converge into a single image. Focus on the converged image. As you learn to focus, you'll see the converged image in 3D. If you practice at it long enough, you can get to the point where it's very simple to do. Believe me. No this isn't an April Fools joke. :)

Here's a link that has some more info on this method plus some other info you might find useful.

Duane Moody's website, Duane's Toybox, has a tutorial on creating anaglyphs in Poser.

JFStan and duesentrieb have both done work with anaglyphs; check out their images in the Poser Gallery.

You can find a number of utilities at this site:

You can use Anaglyph Maker to take 2 images and make them an anaglyph image. I attached the link to the program.

I remember doing this in Bryce. With stills, its easy. Render, move the camera slightly, render again. Ditch the red channel on one render in PS, ditch the blue channel on the other render in PS. Overlay the two images. Now, to do that in animation, I defer to the masters.

Ha, I havent done any of these since my Amiga days. Good fun, I did some using a video grabber with real models. Id love to see/hear a stereophonic picture ;)

That 3D stuff will stunt your growth......:{

I'm sorry to her that 3D will stunt my growth because I'm doing a presentation on 3D photography for my Physics class using a Victorian stereoscope and 3D images rendered in Poser. I'm already 6"1' tall, though, so I don't mind if I don't grow any more.
