Subject: Which Gallery please?

SophiaDeer ( ) posted Wed, 12 June 2002 at 6:43 AM Ā· edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 8:33 AM

I work with Poser but after I render the work I like to give it a more "Monet" look, and use various filters in PSP and PS to give it this effect.

My question is what gallery does it belong in?

Would it be Poser, 2D ( it looks more 2D after I apply the filters) or Mixed Media?

I noticed that most people who use Poser strive for a photo-realistic look so I feel that the Poser gallery is not the most appropriate place for the type of artwork I do, but am not sure.

Thank you in advance.

Warm Regards,
Nancy

I personally would put it in Mixed Media. Don't worry, the Gallery Gestapo won't bust you; put it where you feel it belongs.

Hi, Nancy... Ooops! my post got lost!! Yep... I'm another one who likes to use Poser to create source material for my filter madness... It's a can of pleasant worms really, with so many similar galleries! Postwork is OK in the Poser gallery... but in my experiance your image is likely to be lost very quickly in the plethora of others. The Mixed Medium gallery is a good place to post such picures if the postwork exceeds the initial Poser work. BUT there are more views of the 2d gallery so I porefer to post there. It strikes a happy medium. H:)

It's really your decision as to which is the more important component to the picture.

I'm with them, put it where you want (as long as it's not the Members Photo Gallery, I hate when people do that). I used to put my stuff in Mixed Media because I usually render in Bryce. When I saw a lot of stuff in the Poser gallery that had been rendered in other programs and had lots of post work done in other apps as well, I moved it all into Poser. Also, Mixed Media doesn't seem to get viewed as much. My views doubled when I moved my stuff over. Keep up the great work!

I too have wondered about this issue.Truth be told most work on this site is mixed media, but I have been going with the idea of what does the end product most resemble. If it is still obviously poser it goes in that gallary, still looks like a photograph then photography, and 2d is my default if it is mixed to the point of not being really one or the other.

I tried mixed media for a while, but went back to poser, because I render in poser, even though it's postworked in other programmes. As Hiram says you get more views in the poser gallery.

Here ... take your pick. :)

When I was posting fractals in the 2D gallery, they were less tolerant of Poser images than Poser people were tolerant of filter madness. That was awhile back, might be mellower now. I like to see Poser pics-- I dont care what was done to them-- rendered in Vue, processed with velveeta, I don't care. Personally, I do not think that the be-all and end-all of Poser is Photorealism. I hope not or real photography will beat us all the time. And have you looked at the directions Photography is going into-- it isn't realism. Emily
