i've been having a problem when adding new figures to poser. i get an error with some of them saying something like can not open example.obj "you may need to increase the amount of memory allocated to poser". does anyone have any idea what that means? (besides low memory :o) ) and how can i change the amount to memory that goes into poser? thank you for any help

Did you just download the patch? I am having the same problem and I didn't have it before the patch. Hmmm.

Are you Mac or PC? On Mac, select the program icon and choose "Information" (Command-I), then select the popup "Memory", and fill in a larger size in the bottom slot. You should give it as much as possible, but about 5-10 MB less than typically available (to allow your system to get some extras, when needed). Because the Mac version of the patch is currently no installer, it will not use your previous setting, but ships with a minimum memory partition of 60MB which is much too low for most of the downloaded models.

I'm on PC. And I reloaded the figure and now it works fine. I forgot the cardinal rule of testing. When in doubt, reload. And since you are on a Mac, I think you can allocate memory before you open a program. Check your manual. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

i'm on pc i cant seem to find anything in the manual on changing memory size for the program perhaps im over looking it i dunno. as for downloading the patch i'm not sure i'm downloading maps and stuff from the poser free stuff section most of the problems comes from the p4wwg models that i have to extract the obj files and i've done that but still i get an error another file that i have problems with is the chain mail bikini textures i get the same error

PCs, unlike macs, have a decent virtual memory manager. So you cannot manually change the settings. It will give you everything that the program asks for, until it runs out of ram and virtual memory. But it only allocates it as it is needed, not all up front.

could my problem possibly caused by my video card? its 3d but the built in ram is not much 4mgs perhaps. seems like the higher and deeper involved files are the ones i have problems with

Im having the same problem but it only happens with certain models it say "cannot open geometries/xxx.obj" but I check my geometries folder and the obj. file is there. then it gives me the messege about memory and then it deletes the last figure I loaded. its driving me nuts!!!
