This is a large image, but can something like this be done in bryce? http://images.deviantart.com/large/wallpaper/w3d/Blue_Monster.jpg And...are there any really good lighting tutorials out there? if so, could i get a couple links. Last question...Can crystals be made in bryce? I dont know how familiar you guys are with trendy art...but crystals are in...and i like them and was curious if they can be made in bryce. Thanks in advance

Aye, i've made plenty of crystals in Bryce. It's actually pretty painless. As for mimicking your blue monster image, anything can be done if you put your mind to it. Bryce is, foremost, and environmental renderer. But you could push the limits to whatever you wanted to render, we do it all the time! As for lighting, are you using Bryce 4 or Bryce 5? They have very different lighting techniques, as far as soft shadows vs. lightcages....

I am using bryce 5, im not sure what kind of lighting i really want, something abnormal... As for crystals, how do you make em? maybe we could talk about it on AIM or yahoo IM? or could you maybe e-mail me a tutorial? Id really appreciate it. Thanks for the response i really appreciate it.

Are you looking for tutorials on lighting techniques in general or a specific Bryce tutorial?

You can check http://www.yourbookshop.co.uk/ybsdetail.asp?item=214586 for a book called Digital Lighting & Rendering. I've been told that it's like a bible for 3D. There is also a nice tutorial on lighting in issue 20 of 3Dworld. If you don't have that issue yet you could check http://www.3dworldmag.com/backissues.asp to buy it. It's slod out at the moment, but it might be in re-print. I can also ask 3DWorld permission to scan the tutorial and send the scanned-in version to you. I don't know if they will allow that, but it's worth a try.
