Subject: Poser Copyright question

Hi all!

Well, my Zombie figure is going through a few more small changes that are going to make it even more useful and... gory. {Like pulsating flesh showing through the wounds}

Before I turn him loose on the world I want to make sure that I'm not steping on any copyright toes over at Curious Labs.

The files will be for both Mac and PC and contain CR2, texture files, etc. There are also .OBJ files of different "wound areas" on the zombie's body. Not long after the initial release of the figure I will be releasing free updates of texture files, transp. files and wound areas.

He is based on the P4 nude male figure so that animation should be well behaved.

The initial release will be low priced for about a month then it will increase. Don't worry, I plan to keep it priced as low as possible, I'm not out to gouge anybody. I am just wondering what Curious Labs' stand is on this sort of thing. Are there copyright restrictions that I need to take into consideration?

This will be the first in a series of characters and creatures based on my work as a make-up artist with the studios in Hollywood. I have noticed a paucity of this sort of character so I think mine will feed a nitch market out there. I'd be interested to hear what kind of monsters folks would like to see. Anybody want a transforming werewolf?

I had a copyright question about using screen shots of Poser in my lesson plans. I emailed Steve Cooper at Curious Labs and he sent me a reply granting permission to do so. You can contact Curious Labs at their web site under Customer Service. However, since you are using the actual meshes, you may be in a different situation. Better to ask now than be sorry later! scara

There is probably a way to process the cr2 through objaction mover and circumvent the copyright. CL will be able to tell you how. I noticed that's what Kozabura did with his transparency and new tex for the P4 Male hair. I'm assuming it's not impossible. I'd, personally, love a Werewolf. I'd be interested in a werewolf, also. Especially if it has digitigrade legs. I'm collecting anthropomorphic characters.

What's digitigrade? The kind on satyrs and barrett lifeform?? Ya stumped me, Little Dragon! Not too many people do that with words-- unless they are real real tech. Emily

If your mesh is in any way based on one of the meshes that come with Poser then you most likely won't be able to get permission to distribute it unless you encode it using Objaction Mover. The encoding process is simple, but Objaction Mover is for non commercial use only, so you can't sell encoded files unless you get permission from Maz, the guy that wrote it.

That's right queri, like satyrs and blbarret's character. Digitigrade means that they walk on their toes (or hooves, as the case might be), rather than resting their full weight on their heels. thewolfman's werewolf character is digitigrade, also (see gallery image).

Anthropomorphic (or furry) characters tend to be fairly evenly divided between digitigrade legs and plantigrade (human-like) legs.
