I read somewhere about the neck issue when importing bvh files. How do I stop the "rubber neck" effect?

The problem is with the neck and the head. The bend parameter is way off on both. If you do a search on bvh in this forum, you will get a host of messages on this subject. Sometimes, they talk about the neck and sometimes about the shoulders. You can correct the problem using the graph editor on the selected part. You choose the parameter that you want to work with in the graph editor. You adjust the first frame to the values that you want to work with. Then you click and drag to select the range of frames. The range turns gray. You then hold down the control key. This gives you double vertical arrows, You can then adjust the entire range. You have to do that with both the neck and head and maybe the upper neck if it has one. Usually, you have to adjust the resulting animation of the head and neck to get the movement you want as opposed to the movement that should have come across in the bvh file. The hands being screwed up is normal since there usually isn't matching joint data. There is also a problem with the Poser body parts being named differently from the standard names used in the bvh files.

Thanks! This site is so valuable for the independent to to learn this stuff. I thank all of you so much for all the help and hope to contribute any of my knowledge when the time comes.

When I was a kid in catholic school, we had a nun teacher that rolled her eyes and head a lot. We called her Sister Mary Rubber Neck. I've never thought of her in adult life until I bought Poser. Glad to hear someone else out there ran up against Rubber Neck! (That yardstick was wicked, wasn't it?)
