My download page gets cut off just before the link, somewhere in the middle of the netscape users instructions. The link never shows up and I have yet to receive any mail with it. I'm not sure I got an email with the free Vicky, should I wait for it or email Daz?

TalmidBen ( ) posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 10:50 PM

Same thing with me, and I e-mailed Daz. I can't download the model, perhaps I'm guessing, that their site is getting flooded or something. Still, even in the meantime, Thank you Daz! Ben

To all,

Seeing the cool images that people create with our new models is sincerely one of my favorite things. We at DAZ don't get much time to play around with the finished products (Our bosses are relentless:) We had thoughts of creating some King Kong images or fantasy images etc. So if some of you feel so inclined it would be great to see some of your work with the Gorilla.

I hope that you all really enjoy it.

Sincerely,

Dan Farr
President DAZ Productions

Daz is most likely getting swampped. If you did not get the download instructions, go to the store main page. In the bottom left corner there is a link to your order history (you may need to sign in if you don't see the link). Click on your order number and the download instructions will be there. Peggy

yeah I e-mailed them to cause I cant seem to get the link either.

ronknights ( ) posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 10:54 PM

I had to try a few times to get the Gorilla. I finally emailed DAZ, and on the next try, I found the download button. Did you know DAZ is selling the Gorilla textures and poses for $9.97? If you got a Gift Certificate for completing the survey, you get that other stuff for about $5!!! This is "way kool!" Thanks Dan and DAZ!!!

TalmidBen ( ) posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 10:56 PM

"Our bosses are relentless:)" lol, Dan, you ARE the boss! Daz has to be the best online company ever. The best I've ever seen anyway, consider: - Products of the HIGHEST quality - A FREE model every week - And some of the FREE products include: Stephanie, Los-res Vicky, and now Gorilla LE! What company gives away such awesome products for FREE?! Thanks again Daz, I can't wait to test out the Gorilla! God bless, Ben Burton

spudgrl ( ) posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 10:57 PM

Thanks peggy worked for me just fine!

Barbarellany ( ) posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 11:01 PM

I hope the coupon comes before July 1. How handy to have it for the textures. So now who will be doing the morphs for chimp, etc? Can it be made into a baboon? Daz is the best.

Let me second what Talmid Ben has just said. I just tried again and went through the whole process this time getting the link. Peggy, thanks for reminding me, I notice the link but never needed to use it till now :) Since the maps and add-ons are already on special offer of 50% are vouchers still valid for it? Just wondering since I haven't taken the survey yet. In any case they're still a bargain.

TalmidBen ( ) posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 11:05 PM

Like Kalypso, I just went through the process again, and it worked. Yee-haw!

Here's a quick render. I haven't bought the Textures/Pose set. I'm still waiting for the $5 survey certificate. I may well be the first Renderosity person to post a "Gorilla Render?!"

Daz3D's marketing strategy here is brilliant. Give away the model for free in a Light Edition format, and make the upgrade/texture maps and poses available in a separate product. If you are able, you should purchase the Gorilla Morphs and Maps, to reward Daz for their generosity. Unfortunately for the moment, I can't get them, but will soon! Before July 1st, I hope! And with the voucher, as Ron mentioned, what a DEAL! That's like 4.95 for a Millennium Gorilla altogether, with the voucher!

lalverson ( ) posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 11:23 PM

on my HDD with his extra pack! Daz, Ya did good, now if I can figure a way to get a gorrila in the exeter mystery....

DgerzeeBoy ( ) posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 11:27 PM

Great gift, Dan. Thanks to the entire DAZ gang for their unending talent and generosity.

I get the feeling that there just might be a freebie banana coming one Wednesday in the not-to-distant future. (;oD)

Personally, I plan on doing some morphing... gonna make the Daz Dragon into something mildly different... For you VOR fans out there, I'm gonna make me a Growler. "What's a Growler," asks all but 2 of you. The pic above is a Growler, that's what. ^_^ Imagine one part T-Rex, one part Gorilla, with a metal frame (and steel-hard claws and teeth), a packmind, and the motto "Eat, Breed, Kill!" and you got a Growler. The picture is of a few of the 1/48 scale figures from the wargame VOR. ^_^

Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!

While vacationing in New York, Freddie thought it would be quite hysterical to have his buddy take a picture of him in front of the Empire State Building. "Just wait 'til the guys back at the zoo see THIS one!" he said. Thanks, Daz! He's WONDERFUL!

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Fri, 21 June 2002 at 1:13 AM

Come on, come on ... somebody post a textured render. I know that some of you have the textures. I won't be getting mine until the weekend, at the earliest.

Animation note:
Looks like Kong will be fully Mimic-ready with the Morphs, Maps, & Poses package.

MARK:
If a freebie banana isn't forthcoming in the next week or so, I might take a crack at crafting one myself (with bite morphs and a fully-poseable peel).

I lay, semi-awake this morning, and thought abouth this DAZ strategy. I think we first saw it with the LE versions of Millennium Figures. This gave you a way to legally share your new characters. Yes, then DAZ has the P4/Millennium Hybrid characters that allow you to use the P4 clothes on a hybrid Millennium figure. Then DAZ recently released Stephanie P4, and charged us for that version. Puzzling? Now we have some lo-res versions of Millennium Figures. Some we got for free if we were fast enough. We even got some sample textures and free poses, faces, etc. I'm not quite sure what to make out of the lo-res figures. I got them, but likely won't use them. I want my figures "up-front and looking good." I still haven't used any P4/Millennium hybrids. Getting the Millennium figures was a major accomplishment. *** This Gorilla thing is really cool. You get a decent gorilla for free. Spend less than $10, and you get "the full edition," including some excellent textures. Wow. Now maybe this is finally an indication of a new DAZ selling strategy?

c1rcle ( ) posted Fri, 21 June 2002 at 8:05 AM

sounds like shareware, you get the cutdown version for free but pay a small amount and get the full version, I don't mind I payed for the full version it's more than worth it, having been almost nose to nose with a real gorilla I can say without a doubt the Daz gorilla is extremely lifelike with the texture on. Daz3d does it again in style, nice work guys & girls :) Rob
