No, I'm not talking about 'bryce lightning', but I'm wondering if there is any way to model lightning strokes in Br5? Maybe adding it post render with another graphics application? Thanks!

Yes. As for post render, there's a photoshop plug in called Xenoflex that does lightening like this.

...and you can do it in Bryce like this. You'll want to visit www.brycetech.com for the model and instructions. Sorry this image doesn't do justice to BT's work, it was the wine, I assure you.

PhotoImpact has a great lightning generator. Lots of control. Acutally I use it over psp because it can plugin psps' plugin effects also

Here's lightning done in Bryce with a transparency map applied to a plane.

those are quicky samples i used, the original pic doesn't have lightning. The company name is ULEAD and Photoimpact is just one of many nice programs.

I have a couple of ulead photoimaging tools that came with my digital camera which I really like. Guess I should pay more attention.(my mind turns off commecials for some reason.) Thanks for the tip - I'll check it out.

The MayaPaint-effects screensaver has 2 random lightning creating algorithms, if you make a screenshot you can use them too. These painteffects-lightnings look kinda nice to me. I don't know where to download the screensaver, but I think google can find it.
