lol, right after i posted i saw that thread. and i will state an opinion of mine, maybe some of you will agree with, perhaps not. I am a brycer, just like the rest of you. I love the program...but honestly...havent you ever wished it could do more? I recently got Metasequoia, a great freeware object modeler. It is an AWESOME companion to bryce. I am a member of another posting forum and bryce is the butt of quite a few jokes about it not being true 3d, i agree with this and dont. No where does bryce state its a 3d object modeler...its 3d landscape. Booleans by most peoples standards doesnt count as true "modeling" so with that said... When i posted this thread, prior to reading the one below..i thought to myself, wouldnt it be GREAT if bryce 6 was a TRUE 3d object modeler AS WELL AS the tool we love (being landscape) The article at Brycetech.com said something to the effect about the artists in mind...well wouldnt it be just that? think about it for a second: Lightwave, 3DS, softimage...all 3d modeling apps...bryce does one thing they dont...model landscape. How cool would it be to have a landscape AND modeling program? In my honest opinion that would kick ass. =) just some thoughts

i think youll find some amazing things modeled in terrain if you have the imagination.the point of any application is that you use its tools alongside your imagination. Those people who want to stand on a pedestal (modeled in nurbs) looking down at bryce ought to get on and produce something

I would like optional true radiosity.

  1. Would like better support for metaballs in autocad's dxf files. Kinda sucks to make a model and import it into Bryce and have to pick out the metaball primitives. 2. Maybe an option to change the color of a wireframe too. Certain models like poser skeletons and Truespace metaball models have wireframes that are drawn with a light color. Its not as dark as the wireframes for other primitives. Makes it hard to work with.

SevenOfEleven, You can alreadychange the color of the wireframe. Just change the family.

Oh, I also send my enquete about Bryce6 to Corel after some 40 people gave a list of things they would like to see in Bryce6. I send it directly to Conan Hunter and I asked him if he could send me some information on Bryce6 if he has any information that is not 'classified' to keep the people on Renderosity informed about what Corel did with their suggestions. So far I haven't heard anything yet, but I think I'll ask him again. As soon as I get any information I'll post it in this forum.

Me personally I would love to see additional support of poser characters. Just an ability to import them in all textured and ready to go. Man 6 weeks of messing with imports stretched textures and malformed texture and texture that just do not seem to work at all, reimporting back into UV mapper and back out again and back into Bryce. Well that gets to be an annoying pain, setting up all the meshes of a certain object to be a group. I havent given up yet but I have yet to have anything at all import into Bryce from Poser and Yes I have tried every single poser to bryce tutorial out there that is listed here and that a google search would find. I am still trying to figure out how you do it. Simple stuff like the Morphing Skull from Daz works fine via the tutoruals but then again no texture just an ivory color and actually i did that as a 3ds and not an OBJ, but getting Vicky, fully dressed in the Gothic Armor, with the good or evil or elven textures and the Chain mail, and the San Fran hair and six weeks now of messing with it every night is really driving me bonkers. What i wouldn;t give for the feature to just import a pz3 file right in and be done with it.

Phantast ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 4:53 AM

The feature to import a pz3 file would, I think, actually be quite easy to implement. I think it should form part of a 5.1 upgrade, not 6.0, if Corel want to keep ahead of Vue. I would like to say also that I would be AGAINST including full 3d modelling capabilities in B6. It's often much better to use the right individual tools for a job than to try and combine them. Better to have a hammer and a screwdriver than a hammer with a screwdriver stuck on the end. Try and put everything in one box and the result becomes too cumbersome to use.

When I make a model with transparent parts (e.g. having a scubadiving mask window or a helmet visor) in Poser and transferring it to Bryce), I get tired of having to ferret in Bryce for all the visors/etc and set them transparent, because .OBJ mesh file language does not have a way to set anything transparent. Also, when inporting an .OBJ object to Bryce, why can't .OBJ materials keep their names???
