oh i forgot i'm using poser4 if that makes any differance in texture options

It looks like the texture is upside down. You could try flipping the texture map vertically in photoshop (or whatever graphics program you use) and then applying it. Another possibility (given the shape of the ears and the squareness of the jaw) is that you are using the Lo Res figures (or the Poser 2 figures). Their texture maps are not the same as the standard Poser 4 figures, the body parts are laid out differently. Make sure you are using the figures from the "People" subcategory of the Figures library.

I think Geekholder has hit the nail on the head - that looks very much like a Lo Res figure to me too. Paul

The texture has to be the one specifically made for a particular figure. They're not interchangeable. You can't put a P3 texture map on a P4 figure, for example. Make sure you're using the exact texture designed for that figure. I agree with geekholder and Paul, that looks like a P2 figure that you're attempting to apply a P4 texture to. That will do weird things. Open the textures in your paint program and look at them. They're very different in appearance. Your libraries will have subdirectories with Poser 3 and Poser 4 texttures in them. I hope that helps some. Melanie

ok i've tried all differant body styles and it seems to get a little better but it is still messed up a little bit is there a way i can check to see what the parenting figure would be or will i have to go through all my zip files and find the read me's i've tried these textures on all the poser bodies p4 lo p2 hi and lo and to no avail still comes out blotched i even tried geekholders idea and that i belive came out the best but the texture is still looking like its being wrapped around the body insted of being fixed in the right place. would i be able to adjust the properties of the texture to say change its size or anything?

Did you try to open up the other textures and compare the layouts of them? You'll be able to tell wich figure they're for easier that way. Here's an idea to those of us who create texture maps: Maybe we should be labeling them somewhere on the map with P3 Nude Man or P4 Nude Woman or whatever it's for. This way, folks will know exactly what it's for. I never thought of that before, but this could be a good reason to start doing that. Melanie

well i just started using poser about a week or 2 ago and i'm really not sure of the differance in the texture maps or how they supposed to look. to me it looks like someone spent too long sitting down in a microwave oven lol

The default templates and maps are on the CD. Take a look at the maps for the P3 figures and compare them with the P4 maps to see the difference in their layouts. You will then be able to recognize the differences when you get a new map. Good idea melanie about labeling the maps, indicating which figure they go on, in their file names. btw I just posted a P3 female figure that has been remapped to accept P4 maps over at PFO.

Nance, I think it would even be a good idea to use text somewhere on the map itself to identify the figure it belongs to, since the words you place anywhere in the white area don't map to the figure anyway. That way, when someone opens up a map, they can see immediately which figure it's made for. Melanie
