Why bother changing the name? The way it stands now, any Free Stuff contributor can choose whether or not to use "commercial restrictions." If you download something, it's your responsibility to keep track of the information, and do what is necessary to honor the creator's request. It's not terribly hard to develop a good organizational scheme for your downloads. I did mine after a few months of frenzied downloads. Heck, I download almost everything in Renderosity twice because I wasn't organized. I got tired of that fast. So let's just leave things the way they are. The Free Stuff contributor makes the call, and we honor the request. Yes, things are always harder if the Free Stuff contributor "moves and leaves no forwarding address." But we do what we can. With that, I retire from this subject. Even I know when to shut up sometimes. Ron
@wusamah - you have a good and valid question there. I did not catch the previous discussion on this subject, do you have the link? @ron - i'm curious, how does the words 'STUFF' and 'DOWNLOADS' truly affect the contributors choice on "whether or not to use "commercial restrictions." "? @wipe - sorry, had to know :P
Wusamah, it's a good idea to try to get around the semantics lawyers, but I doubt it'll stop the arguments. TMGraphics, are you sure you REALLY want to know? Fyre-chan yells. ^_~ (Ya know, this whole freestuff argument thing has given me renewed insight into why you should never, ever offer kittens 'free' to good homes.)
Just a note I found: When I checked my items in "Free Stuff" they had defaulted to "Non-Commercial" as they were uploaded 'before' the change. This is NOT so as I would love to see someone use my stuff in commercial renders/animations (just NOT selling the meshes themselfs). So I had to Edit my uploads. I am sure many others have not seen this on thier previous uploads to make the changes and mostly likey some new stuff uploaded the auther may have just uploaded without thinking to check the box. So, as one had taught me once before ALWAYS read those 'readmes'!
Quick factoid: 55% of the FreeStuff posts in the last few days allow commercial use. (60 of the last 108) By extrapolation, that implies that more than half of all the prior posts were mislabeled when the default was chosen as "Non-Commercial Only". [brought to you by the "Default to Blank & Don't Try to Read My Mind Committee" in conjunction with the Renderosity Chapter of the "Beat a Dead Horse Association"]
Good Lord! The "Free Stuff" was the "Free Stuff" since Renderosity was born, i.e. around the time when Eve offered Adam the apple (yeah, I remember that day, it was rainy and cold). So, what's the big deal? Sometimes I have the impression that some people try to be more catholic than the pope. Ahh, never mind...

In consideration of previous discussions here before why not be more specific and label the "free stuff" section as "free downloads." At least then we would be clear that a product maybe free to download but may have limited uses commercially. So we can avoid anymore philosophical debates or argument trying to define what "free" exactly means.
