I just noticed something while i was seeing how imhotep walks and moves on the mummy returns dvd. I noticed that his arms are made out of bone how can i make his forearms just out of bone? This really pisses me off! -Peter

Rent the first mummy movie DVD and check out the extras content on the CGI work. They basically built anatomy..muscles, bone and all.

open the skeleton character and import it into the same scene as your mummy, move him over the mummy, and then hide/remove the mummies arms and replace it with the characters arms. You may need to edit the joint parameters and such. Look at some of the tutorials her for replacing body parts or creating new poser figures. Its possible and not terribly difficult, but your workload just tripled if you plan on doing this. Its great practice though :) And also the best start you can get for creating yor own fantasy characters.

One of these days I'm going to get ACT from digimation and do something like that .... such an expensive hobby :(

The Mummy is shown in various stages of reconstruction as he takes life force and bodyparts from the 4 guys who have the jars holding HIS innards. The canopic jars traditionally held heart and liver and such because the body cavity was emptied as part of mummification. Brains were removed, too, but in such a way that I doubt if they were in a jar afterwards. Carolly

The jars didnt actually have his inards, they had the innards of his priests. His inards were eaten by scarrabs. Give me a wedge :)

did you notice that in the second one he comes out of his cocoon as if he had sucked the life out of someone and he also had eyeballs.

How can i atach torn up bandages to his bony forearms? PS:Did you notice that in the second one he comes out of his cocoon as if he had sucked the life out of someone and he also had eyeballs. -Peter

You're really trying to push Poser beyond its current limits here. As a fellow pusher-and-breaker, I admire that.

You can parent props (and even other figures) to a body part. Getting a prop to look like a torn-up bandage is a bit harder, but textures and transmaps can work wonders. Animating it to flap around as Imhotep moves will be the real challenge.

Concerning bones, internal organs, etc.:
Visit Third Eye Function and check out both of remc's undead characters for Poser. They might give you a few ideas.

darkphoenix, You're right. Buried alive. No matter how much they hated him and what he had done, setting up a scenario where he could return as an evil power wasn't the act of sane, reasonable men. Of course, they were probably thinking that if he did come back, it wouldn't be THEIR problem. Nice scarabs. The jewel-blue ones were very pretty. It was also a neat twist having an emblem of eternal life be turned into a means of eternal death. Most of the sets looked pretty good. The clothing wasn't anything close to true, but the furnishings felt right, and the traps and pitfalls resemble those in real tombs. The first Mummy movie was the best of the three by this director. He needs to recapture that wacky innocence and playfulness. There are plenty of action movies, and plenty of special effescts movies, but so few fun movies. Carolly

hey everyone i got the forearm bone thing looking great. i used the skeleton and took out his forearms exported them as an OBJ file then imported it. I then deleted the forearm from the mummy and i then placed the bone forearm where the mummy forearm was and set the parent for the bone with the mummy arm. whew, that was as hard as it sounded. As for the bandages i found a poseable blanket on the internet maybe if if i make it smaller and give it a good moldy white bandage texture it will look great. Heres a good one where the hell can i find those flesh eating scarabs? I'm sure there has to be some out there. If you find one please tell me. Also where can i find the scorion king for poser i searched for it on the renderosity archives and found a cool one. But it told me it was in the free section of props guild, so when i went to the free section it wasn't there what gives? anyways thanks for everything to all of those who posted and helped me you made all the difference. PS:Ill post a pic of the mummy as soon as im done -Peter

try the 3d comic collective , i think i remember seeing one there

TheEdgeFilms ( ) posted Tue, 25 June 2002 at 10:10 PM

i dont think 3DCC has the Scorpion King. -Peter

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Tue, 25 June 2002 at 11:19 PM

PropsGuild has since become a subscription site, and most of its content is available to members only. Check the preview section, and you'll see a thumbnail image of the Scorpio Man character for Michael. It isn't the Scorpion King, but was inspired by the film.

M.C.Design has a posable scarab for sale, along with other yucky insects. You can find it here in the Marketplace; it's by mertext.

brycetech has a posable stag beetle in the Marketplace, also; it might do in a pinch.

You can download a free scarab from the archives at Baument. It's an untextured mesh in .3ds format, so it isn't posable; you'll have to import it into Poser.

see if you can find the Rock and edit it some

TheEdgeFilms ( ) posted Tue, 25 June 2002 at 11:35 PM

the scorpion king character doesn't seem like its able to be downloaded? Whats wrong? -Peter

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 2:54 AM

You can't download from the preview pages. You have to purchase a subscription to the site; then you have access to the members area and can download anything you wish. If you aren't a member, you can only download whatever is offered in the Freebies section (currently the Alien v2.0). It works a lot like the PoserWorld site.
