Hi All, Thanks for the info on getting the transmaps for hair, etc... to work in Bryce. For future characters, I will definitely be experimenting with some of the other transmapped hair. I downloaded a couple of characters with new hair that were recommended. For my current character, I really wanted to use the conforming curls, and wanted to maintain the color, etc... from the original picture. You can find the character, Gwen, in the Poser gallery on this site. As of tonight, there are three images, going back over a few days, plus the rerender of one using Allie's transmap and texture. There were some problems with what was being made transparent, so I only applied the texture with transparency to most of the hair. I applied the same settings, with out trans, to a few parts. Applied as suggested, it wasn't what I wanted, and I really wanted to keep the original color. So, I modified the texturing as in the image included with this post. In the new image of Gwen in the gallery, much fine detail was lost in going to JPEG, even with minimum compression, but the bit map was to big to post. I still like it. I think it's a good combo of the original hair and the transmapped and textured version. Thank you so much for all who helped. I'm taking this whole thing in small steps, and you saved my sanity over trying to get the transmaps to work in Poser! :) I would welcome any comments on the images in the gallery, either there, or here. (There is some nudity in the images in the gallery, just wanted to note that since the forum asks about adult content)... Thanks, Fiontar

My question is, what are you using to convert your images to jpegs? You shouldn't be losing any detail at all. Have you tried PSP?

You might try ACDSee. Right click on file name, convert to: set jpg compression level. I have reduced enormous files with this prgm to more usefull file size with no noticeable loss of quality. You have to experiment and judge what is acceptable for your own tastes, but it's a great program. - Art -

Hi, Bonestructure, I'm using PSP 6.0. I don't remember ever having had that problem with PSP before. It is almost slightly "softening" the image when saving it to JPEG. I wonder if they have added some new "feature" that is causing this. I'll have to dig into preferences. Art, I have ACSee, I'll have to try doing the conversion there. Thanks. Fiontar

fiontar, I use PSP 5.5 and here's a little trick for you to try. I save some of my images as jpg files by just saving the bmp file, and the size gets really low without much lose in quality. But on a few pics I have noticed the lower quality so I instead of saving them as a jpg I use the batch conversion utility in PSP. It does not compress them as much and you don't lose as much quality of the pic. On average a 500K bmp will convert down to about a 120K jpg for me without a noticable lose in quality of the pic. If you haven't tried this yet give it a try and see what you think. Autoloader
