Subject: The rendering camera. Objects are closer than they appear on Camera :)

Hi hi! It is I again :) Umm..have any of you noticed that in the Assembly window, you can line up Camera 1 to you're hearts content, pull it in and out and size everything just the way you want it.. and then when you render the actual rendering appears quite bigger than what you saw in the preview mode in the assembly view? One can try this with a simple Column (I grabbed onw from 3dcafe.com). Align the camera so the top and bottom of the column just fit within the view in Assembly for Camera 1. Then render. When it renders, you will see that the camera seems to have mysteriosuly moved closer to the object, and the top and bottom supports of the column are thus chopped off the view. :- This is particularly annoying when dealing with Isometric views for the camera1. Any thoughts on this?

astewart - Yea, Here is whats happening to you. In your "Camera Window" it doesnt render the whole window. I only renders what is inside the "Production Frame". The Production Frame will appear as a white (default color) box in your Camera Window only. What is inside of this box is what will render.. Sometimes the Production Frame box gets turned off. If you dont see it try this. Click on the Camera Window to select it. Then click on View and place a check mark next to Production Frame. You should now see the box in your Camrea View. You can also do a CTRL-ATL-F to display the Production Frame once you have selected the Camera Window. Does that help? Let me know.. :) Clint

How do i increase or scale the production frame? Also..is there a way to render to window? So..lets say I have set the Assemble window to the width and height that I want..and I want to render correctly to that same width and height. Do I just set the Width and Height in the Render Settings? Wouldn't that just ignore what I set and render within the square Production Frame? goes back to read up on the production frame

Nevermind..nevermind..I actually..gasp read the manual and I found it ;-P You know I'm starting to think that life would be a lot easier if I'd take a moment to actually READ these things. hee ;-P

Now..I click the outer line on the production frame..and I got the handles...well..not handles really. They look more like little black dots :- Very hard to make out.(im in isometric view). Anyways...I once managed to scale the production window. The manual states that there will be handles on the sides, but I haven't seen those. Just saw the handles at the corners. And..sometimes it scales...and sometimes it doesn't. Right now, the p-frame is very very small, and I simply cannot scale it up again. sigh I'm going to start over. Anyone else seen this problem?

You can also adjust the window size in the 'render room' by adjusting pixel width and then moving the camera closer or farther away from your subject. Mark
