OK. I've received my zillionth "Upgrade now to Carrara" offer. So I need the opinion of those who are using it. Is it worth it? I am currently using Poser 4, Bryce 4, and RDS 5.5 and RDS 5.5 is nice but so unstable that it really &^#$^#$&^ me off. Is the upgrade worth the $199? Thanks for the info.

zorares, When I first got Carrara I wasnt to sure it was worth the upgrade from RDS 5.5. I've really started beating up Carrara for about 2 weeks now and just love it. Once you get the new GUI interface under control its a blast to work with. I also have Poser 4, Bryce 4 and RDS 5.5. Carrara hasnt crashed on me yet. Im on a PC. I think on a MAC its a little unstable. RDS use to crash every 10-20 minutes if it was being used hard and fast. I tent to work at a chaotic pace. Jumping around fairly fast from menu to menu. RDS use to choke..Carrara cruises right along with out a hickup. Anyway - The more I use it the more I like it. Regards, Clint

I've been using RDS 5.5 for quite some time and it's really stable (MAC OS). Guess the tables been turned on the stability problem. That being said I just ordered the upgrade to CAR just for fun. If you are a registered user of 5.5 then you should get a credit of $99.00 towards the upgrade, don't know how long that will last but I didn't see any time limits on the offer from last fall (you did register, right?).

Carrara has been REALLY stable on my Mac OS. If poly counts go above 3 million it starts to protest though. (gotta do the high res for print work) I've got some plug-ins that I adore in RD 5.5 so I still bounce back in occasionally for something special. However, 95% of my work is done in Carrara now. Mark

Thanks for the info. I bit the bullet and ordered Carrara today, should get it monday. Unfortunately I had to pay the upgrade price from RDS 5.0 ($199) and not RDS 5.5. Oh well. Can any one tell me if the interaction between Carrara and Poser and Bryce is any good? I hated how you could move back and forth between the three with Raydream. Thanks.

Currently there is not a plug in that allows you to manipulate Poser files in Carrara like in RD5.5; they need to be fully posed when they come in from Poser. Bryce works great with C. Mark
