Subject: My first render....be cruel, be mean, be harsh

First render here: http://www.clarity.liquidweb.com/misc/first.jpg Everything is basic Poser4 stuff. Arranged the poses myself after a few trys. Im curious to know why some things turned out the way they did. * The 'cut joints' Im going to guess is coming from me twisting them too far? * The skin showing through her clothing I cant figure out though. The user guide says if skin shows through clothing make that piece invisible. But I cant very well make her whole thigh invisible!!?!?! Any harsh criticism/advice/help would be GREATLY appreciated. ^_____^

heh I like the picture even with the problems, you will get showthrough with some of the more extreme poses, that's where postwork comes in, pop your picture into photoshop or paintshop and cover up the holes. You're right about the joints too, you can either not push the joints as far or postwork again. have a look in freestuff for some of the global lighting sets, SnowSultan has 3 available, add some ground and a backdrop and you're well on your way. Firstly... good posing for first attempt!! And welcome to the forums!! Couple of things which immediately grab... 1: You can make the clothes fit better by fiddling with the dials... Select "skirt/left thigh" and tweak the "ztrans" or "zscale" a bit... just experiment with these and other dials to see what effect they have. You should be able to hide the pokey-out bit like this. 2: The back foot is a bit too bent (foot flat to the floor)... Bring the heel up to put this foot on tip-toes. Try the pose yourself... (can be amusing)! 3: the creases in the joints will occurr when using Posette. These are best fixed with a bit of postwork in Photoshop/PSP. 4:Ghod it's a biggy!!! Best to post slightly smaller images (1000x1000 max) to help those of us still on 56K modems!!!! Great work and keep it up!! H:)

Thanks for the advice. I had thought about doing post work as I love photoshop but I figured I would just put up the basic render for my first attempt. And sorry about the size. Consider me repremanded. ^__^

jprich69, Thats a great first render to post! I like the pose and the scene itself, everyone mentioned what you might try to do (postwork) to fix some of the problems. Myself, the first time I tried poser you couldn't even tell the figures were people, I had twisted them so bad! lol Keep posting, your doing great ;)

I agree with pokeydots, great picture for a first render, my first render was the default guy in the default position, I just hit render to see what would happen. Rob

Us cruel? Us mean? Us harsh? What are you talking about? My first render was SOOOOO bad I didn't touch Poser for 2 months after... I still close my eyes in fear when I hit that button. Keep it up. You're going to do fine. Q

Well....let me clarify. Thats the first render I was half way willing to put up. I didnt the basic pose render to see what was going to happen and the horribly bended pose render too. I finally read the tutorial and that helped LOADS. So this would be more like my.....oh.....10th render or so.
