Dan, take a look at this thread, in the pictures it looks like the multi-pane views are still there.V&CGI, Good question, I'll take that one and then I need to bail for the time being. We have assembled an awesome team of internal staff and noted, external 3rd party resources to contribute 3D figure modeling, mapping, morph target creation, texture creation, dynamic hair styles, dynamic and conforming clothing setup, as well as library development for new content is every category. We'll be holding their specfic names close for now, so they don't get bombarded with questions that may sidetrack them from the tasks at hand. Once we're in a more final state, I'll proudly share all their names with the community. Steve Cooper

...How much? (my assumptions are in the link, second from the bottom... I'm thinking roughly the same cost as Rhino or so. Hope I'm wrong, but with all the goodies in there, I'm prolly not. (also, will there be an educational discount? - as a teacher, I gotta know :) ) For the curious: it took a CL request to bring me here to post again... mostly because like everyone else, I gots questions. And yeah, I know already... no Linux version. *sigh*...Hi Steve. I asked this in the old thread too, but I think it is important. Did you solve the problem of cross talk? And when you say that the dynamic clothes will work with any figure, whether it's from P5 or DAZ, do you mean that the new models have been regrouped, scaled, remapped as Mike and Vicky? Thanks
I'm guessing that the dynamic cloths will be useing collision detection to conform around any figure they are set to surround, hopefully pokethrough will be a thing of the past. And thanks Kupa, for allaying our fears that our vast expensive p4 libraries may not go to waste. 7cents, 8cents, 9cents....

I can't wait for Poser 9 with the thermal texturing so that when you touch the image on the screen you feel the warmth of the bodies.
Please don't tell my wife I said that.....

knowing that my texture work on the p4 guy will now work on the p5 as well is incredible news, particularly since the jump from 3 to 4 meant a whole new texture map layout. thanks again for the preview, steve. you've raised anticipation to a near frenzy, as i'm sure you can tell, so don't keep up waiting too long, okay?
Kalypso, If you study the pics Steve posted, you'll notice a few things. There is a new Material Library It appears to have sub-folders which can be browsed. (Basic Materials, etc) Multi-pane icons (on the left of the doc window) Grouping tool has been replaced by what seems to be a zoom tool, plus 2 new tools (point at? and camera tools?) Parameters dials are now in a floating box. The standard UI has been replaced by a set of folders or 'Labs'. Pose, Material, Face, Hair, Cloth, Setup and Content. I'm hoping that 'Setup' has some sort of memory control. mac
Hi Steve, What a difference a day's worth of good news makes in Poserdom! You know that I have a special fondness for all the cool copy/paste capability in Poser. I'm guessing (hoping) that's being retained in Poser 5, too - not just because I use it in my products, but because it's so all-around useful (been playing a bit with the Director code and the animation window). Much as we are going to LOVE P5, you know we'll soon be looking for those kinds of mechanisms for experimentation and invention. And Easter Eggs are always in season :-) Elisa/gryffnn

Hmmm, I guess it must use the Collision Detection.

"I still have some work to do on the hem, but my P5 "Formal Dress" should be ready for the marketplace as soon as P5 hits the shelves... it will come complete with Spanki's new 'dress me' pose set. ;)." If that statement was legitimate, then it tells me what I need to know. I'm not wasting any more money on Poser till I get Poser 5. *** "This message states My Not So Humble Opinion. Our opinions might differ, but I respect your opinion!"
Actually those kinds of images, with meshes, mean absolutely nothing to me. However, I do pay attention to words. I do have a sneaking suspicion that some artists out there could actually be preparing stuff for Poser 5. Of course you could spot them a crowd, since they'd have duct tape on their mouths. *** "This message states My Not So Humble Opinion. Our opinions might differ, but I respect your opinion!"
Ahh, well for your benefit... it's supposed to depict a flat 'sheet' of cloth with holes for the head and up-stretched arms of a model.. you 'drop' this sheet/cloth down over the model in P5 and bingo! - new dress.

Expect a substantial mound of P5 ready characters, freebies, etc all ready and working upon its release, no bugs. ...and who from? Check the C.Dreaming thread and see which prominent artists are NOT present, because they're busy beta testing it. (an observation from the C.Dreaming thread, I thought of it too but I've already bookmarked it)
I got it too Spanki, although I had to stop and think a second. ;-)

Thank you Steve, for sharing this. And I am sure that all the Character/Textures sets that we have all put so much money into, will also be compatable. As far as the pricing goes, I am sure that Curious Labs will weigh all the Pros and Cons, knowing that all Poser artists really will want Poser 5, but are not filthy rich. So, I am expecting a bit of a raise in price, but not totally out of range.
And the bottom line is, we have to accept their decision on pricing, arghh! L No, I am sure it will be a fair one. They have been very fair in the past, we must admit:)
My compatability question, is with Windows XP, which we all know is the inevitable future. But I am almost positive, L that Curious Labs took this into consideration as one of the very first things!
Also, will Poser 5 be compatable with the exhisting Pro Pack application?
If these questions have been answered already, forgive me, I could not find it.
I still do not even understand all of Poser 4, but of course, I will want Poser 5!
This is very exciting! Time to start saving money, and hoping the upgrade won't be Mega Expensive.
I am already in Big Trouble with my husband, for all the "Poser Stuff" I have bought from Daz, Renderosity, RDNA, etc! ROFL!! (Wonder If I am Alone? L)
So, good excuse to wait on Poser 5 to purchase more? :DDD LOL
Forgive me if I mixed up topics in this reply. I have a difficult time reading alot in the forums. I did read the other ones, but my eyes are compensated from a muscle problem, and diabetes, resulting in much eyestrain:*(
That is why my uploads are so slow too.
I am sorry if this confuses, or causes an inconvenience for anyone, please bear with me:)

Hey Kupa! "p.s. I'll have to start another thread soon with some images of the new P5 figures. I hope you'll be as excited as we are proud" I think we're all excited already... How soon is soon? ;)

In light of the recent thread titled California Dreaming, I wanted to interject a quick comment about existing characters and content, like those from DAZ, DSI, and Dacort (if any other character creators are out there, please don't feel snubbed, be sure to amend my thread below). Contrary to any rumors about these figures demise, they are far from being at the end of their life. ALL 3rd party Poser content that works in Poser 4, will work in Poser 5. As well, all older P1, P2, P3 and Pro Pack content/files will work in P5 too. At Curious Labs, we see all these figures and their supporting content as being a very valuable asset to have for you individually and for us as a community. There are many great textures, accessories, and utilities for these figures, that many of you have invested substantially in. This investment will still have great value in P5. In P5, there will be a full collection of new figures, and lots of other great content as well. Our new P5 figures will actually work perfectly with the existing texture maps you already have, and as well there will be some fantastic new textures and content from great artists that you likely all know. And, definately, the dynamic clothes models in P5, will work with any figure, whether it's from P5 or DAZ. I'd also like to add a plug for the many great utilites and tools that this community has produced. Tailor, UVMapper, etc. are great assets as well. One of our primary intents with Poser 5 is to help this thriving community grow in new ways, with creative new opportunities for content development, ultimately enabling artists to become entrepeneurs. Please continue to support this community of artist/entrepeneurs whenever possible. Of course, setting aside some funds to score Poser 5 once it's available will be a good thing as well, but don't forget the artists that have helped to keep this communtiy strong. Back to the grindstone... Steve Cooper Curious Labs p.s. I'll have to start another thread soon with some images of the new P5 figures. I hope you'll be as excited as we are proud.
