I've seen the new section of the marketplace, is it possible for everyone to post an image to print? If so How are the procedures? I think that the images have to be in good resolution and have a specific size? Thank you in advance for the reply. Cheers Vasquez

The print guideline specifies a rectangular-shaped image. Can a person submit a sqaure-shaped image so long as the width meets the size requirment (as the height would of course be less)?

No they need to be the size we have specified in the guidelines. Clint

Okay, sorry to go on about this, but perhaps I should elaborate. There is a 'total design size' and a 'live print area'... If the 'total design size' is as specified by the guidlines, but the image - the 'live print area' centered within the 'total design size' - is shorter than 28", is that exceptable? Because technically the print would still meet the 'total design size' requirement. Does this make sense?

ClintH ( ) posted Fri, 05 July 2002 at 9:00 AM

Yes - It makes sense. As long as the the overall final size is 2800x3400 its fine. If the Live print area is smaller than 2200x2800 but is centered in the live print area that should be OK. Clint

I think that the new art print addition to the market place is a bad feature for both the sellers and other renderosity users as it is presently organized. In the poser forum, I have made some suggestions as to how the desire to sell art through renderosity might better be accomodated.

I'm rather confused about the image requirements.

Am I to create my images at 2200x2800 (live=viewable) then "pad" them with 300 extra pixels on each side to bring the total dimensions to 2800x3400? The buyer sees only the 2200x2800 pixels, correct?

If so, the sizes given don't scale to each other. For example, a 22"x28" (live) print area doesn't scale down to 16"x20", it scales down to 15.7"x20", cutting off the edges of the image. Images in which the edges are important will suffer. In particular, some images are graphically "framed," the edges of which will become cut off. Correcting for this at smaller sizes will create a visible border on the larger sizes. What to do?

Also, a 2800x3400 image scales down to the 659x800 and 165x200 preview sizes, but then the preview will have a border (the 3" bleed area) which the buyer won't see in the final product. If I scale the 2200x2800 pixel "live area" picture down to the preview sizes the dimensions become 629x800 and 157x200 respectively, not what you require.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm looking forward to joining the marketplace.

Your sizing statements are 100% correct in regards to the Liveprint area and bleed area.. The Thumbnail and Promo sizes are max sizes... You can use 629x800 and 157x200. As far as the scaling from 22"x28" down to 16"x20" the printer has the means to scale these properly. I dont know how but I asked about this when we first started work on this and I was assured this was not an issue. I hope this helps you out and I'm looking forward to seeing your work! Clint

How long does it take for the prints to be added to the store? I submitted mine on friday and it's not up yet. It said the upload was ok but I'm worried that it didn't go through.

ClintH ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 4:58 PM

Hi purplespider69, Its taking me a little longer than 7 days. I'm realeasing between 4 and 6 per day. We have a good many waiting to be tested. It should go up in 4-6 days. Clint
