Subject: HELP! Character Weirdness!

x2000 ( ) posted Sat, 06 July 2002 at 6:19 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 6:42 PM

There seems to be a little problem with Renderosibee: someone has contacted to say, "When I load him into poser, his hip isn't attached to his body, it comes in above his head. I tried placing it back in the right place with the dials, but what ever I do to the hip is effecting the bee. I tried lowering his hip to the right place, and his body moves with it." Now, I haven't had a bit of trouble with him, and I've even exported him into Bryce and Carrara. I have Pro Pack, but I don't know yet if this other person does or not. Could that be an issue? If so, how can I fix it? If not, what else could it be? I don't know if this is an isolated case or if others are having problems, too. If anyone is getting this, please let me know. I know that you have to have "Genitals" checked in the Figure menu or his hip doesn't show. Could that relate to this somehow? This is really weird.

Heh... I'm sure he can help, if no one else picks this one up... Paul

Is IK turned on? Also - Does it happen both if the figure is loaded as a "replace" (single-check/Double-Click) and if loaded as an "add figure" (Double-Check)? I've had that make a difference with some figures on loading.

Well, the person that told me about this problem doesn't seem to be online right now, and I haven't heard from anyone else yet, so I'm not sure what's what yet. It could be an isolated problem, but I won't know until I get more reports in. I did just delete all the R-bee files from my computer, then reinstalled them with the same .zip I uploaded to see if there was some sort of file corruption there. Everything still worked fine.

I was so close, damn it... I actually did have the solution there, at least partly. I just played around with R-bee, and I tried unchecking "Gentalia". Now, I'd noticed before that this made the hip disappear. What I hadn't noticed until now was... that it hops up above his head, just like this person said! So just make sure it's checked and you should be just fine. Of course, if one of those Poser masters should happen to stick his head into this thread for a peek, I would really like to know how to fix him so that "Genitals" DOESN'T need to be checked, because that could be a real problem if someone wanted to render R-bee in Poser alongside Mike or the Dork...

Lemurtek ( ) posted Sat, 06 July 2002 at 9:49 PM

This is a problem based on the Dork's Genitals on/off switch. In order to fix this for your character, load your Cr2 into either a text editor or one of the cr2 editors, and delete the following section: alternateGeom hip_1 { name Genitals Off objFile 20 :Runtime:Geometries:P4NudeMan:blHipNoGen.obj } Right now it points to the dork's alternate hip, which of course, won't fit with your bee. This will disable the genital switch, and your bee will keep his own hip. Regards- Lemurtek

Heh... So the problem is that a neutered bee has something in common with Dork? Now THAT is funny!

Hey all :) I am the silly person that had the problem! Sorry for the alarm, As soon as I got back home and got the IM from x2000, I loaded the bee again, and checked gentalia, and the problem was solved. Poor Renderosibee! Glad he didn't have to walk around with his hip on his head! Thanks x2000 for the help :)

No problem, Pokeydots. I'm sure someone else would have asked sooner or later. In fact, someone probably still will...;) Thanks for the fix, Lemurtek! I'll do that and reload the fixed version later. As for you folks that already downloaded him, you can grab the new version later (I'll mark it as "2.0" on my page so you'll know when it's up), but if you'd rather not bother, all you need to do is select the genitals of any Mike or Dork figures in your scene and uncheck "Visible" in the Properties pop-up, and he won't be popping through his clothes anymore. Ah, there have been times I've wished I could hide mine away so easily, like when I'm at beach beach with my wife and some sexy young thing strolls by wearing next to nothing... um, uh, but I digress;) Thanks everyone. Let's see those pics!

ROFL... Y'know, I would have responded sooner, but I was asleep during this whole convo... ^^ Glad to know Lemur solved it for ya. ^^

Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!

Thanks anyway, Valander. It's the thought that counts.;) Musicat- Sorry, this was sort of a offshoot of an earlier thread with the info, so I forgot to post it here. You can download Renderosibee from my Home Page right here at R'osity. For the sake of newbies: just click on my name, at the top of this message or wherever, and then, on the page that takes you to, click the "x2000's Artist Page". That will take you to my Home Page where you'll find the link to download Renderosibee 2.0. The file is about 1.1 megs. This is not posted in the Free Stuff section, you can only get it from my Home Page.

hey, x.... can i ask you how you ended up with the p4nm genital switch in your bee's cr2? just wondering. i collect poser weirdnesses, you know :)

x2000 ( ) posted Sun, 07 July 2002 at 3:28 PM

Simple: I used the P4 guy's skeleton to bone R-bee in Pro Pack. Guess I should have used Posette's, huh?

Lemurtek ( ) posted Sun, 07 July 2002 at 4:06 PM

Ya know, I once had almost this exact conversation in a bar! :) Regards- Lemurtek

Entropic ( ) posted Sun, 07 July 2002 at 6:07 PM

The rosibee was boned by dork? Ewwww...

x2000 ( ) posted Sun, 07 July 2002 at 8:17 PM

Hey, Posette's gone all frigid on him and the poor guy's just real hard up, you know? I hope it was worth all the stings...;)

bloodsong ( ) posted Mon, 08 July 2002 at 2:52 PM

heyas; the skeleton brings the cr2 with it? i guess it would have to, then, to get all the jp's in. that's odd, though.
