Subject: MAT files for Props

goldtassel ( ) posted Mon, 08 July 2002 at 12:03 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 9:31 PM

Maybe this is the wrong forum to post this inquiry - there are so many - but I'm trying to make a MAT file to be able to change the Textures on a prop and I can't get it to work. Are there any 'secrets' for making MATs for Props verses Character files? TIA gt

Probably the poser general forum would get you a quicker reply, but it doesn't really matter. MAT files won't work for props....UNLESS the prop is parented to something. So what you have to do is parent it to a figure and save it as a smart-prop. Then your MATs will work. mac

heyas; there you are, gold tassel, i just emailed you and told you to post here ;) in this case, it will not be possible to parent the prop to a figure. but i was wondering, if anybody had tried doing the mat pose thing, for a prop, but saving it in the lights or camera directory; if that had any affect on the outcome. i mean, pose files only apply to figures, obviously, but lights/camera files.... would they care?

New discoveries by Migal mean you can apply a MAT (or any other type of pose) to a prop, even if the prop does not have a parent. See thread linked above.
