Subject: Need help getting Poser Factory's kimono to work

Several months ago I think I asked this and can't remember the answer. At that time I just didn't have enough technical skills to understand what others were suggesting. I dled the kimono again and unzipped it--have a PZ3 file (which doesn't appear to do anything), a kimono .obj, a 'misubi' .obj and a .jpeg texture map. Now, I can bring the kimono in as an .obj and texture it, but that doesn't help me a lick. Can't pose anything. I'm just not sure what to do with this since the readme is in Japanese. Any suggestions? (And the China dress is unzippable with Winzip for me). Diane B

Open the pz3 in a CR2 editor, or failing that any text editor. Search for "obj" to find the line where the file path is defined. Hopefully this will be in English. Place the object file in this location making a new folder if required. Watch for upper/lower case names, Folder is not the same as folder. Now in Poser File/Open the PZ3 file, the figure should load. If prompted for a texture browse to obtain it. Now save the figure to your library. Hope this helps (works:) PhilC

On some of these files that arn't in english I just open the pz3 file in Poser & when it says "can't locate..." I write down the folder & path name & object it's looking for. Then quit & file the parts accordingly, re-launch & viola!

The China dress with sleeves was a mystery for me. I just installed it this morning and had a bear of a time. It turns out that they used a path in the zip and it starts wtih a file called China Dress, which sends it to nowhere. I had to unzip it into my "Copydoc" directory, then disperse the individual parts to their correct directories in Poser. I finally got it to work. Melanie

Winzip won't unzip it at all-what did you use to unzip it with Melanie? I was able to unzip the kimono with it--had to then move things to where I wanted, but I usually do that anyhow--I rarely 'extract to' Diane B

I used WinZip. Maybe you have a bad download. You could try downloading it again. If that fails, you could always e-mail them and have them send it to you. People are usually very nice about that. Melanie

Hmmm, might be. Can't remember the error message. I'll try again first. Diane B
