Does anyone know of a good tutorial for creating bryce textures? I would really like to create my own, but I'm not sure how.

What I mean is the actual Bryce texture files, not imported JPEGs.

One of the best is at www.brycetech.com and scroll down that list on the left. He has one on the mat lab.

I just got into Bryce Tech without problems. Must have been a temporary glitch when you tried.

Thanks! What a great site. I didn't even know about that one. :-)

Aye, I think Brycetech is pissed because it's 2002 or something, I don't quite get it myself but since I use Windows 98, I guess I'm screwed on Bryce 6 as well. The best way to learn how to make textures is to just jump right into the Deep Texture Editor and go nuts! Here's an image with some captions for you to check out, the arrows point to little places to quick that can be useful when gernerating new materials. (Sorry about the cheezy little dragon guy in the corner, I suck at painting with a mouse...)

Thanks! I like you're little dragon :-)

I've been trying to create some textures from photographs and some metallic ones but I can't get them to look as good as the ones other people have created. I'm getting there though. This diagram should help a lot. Thanks for posting it!

You can't use the .jpegs in the DTE but you can apply them as surface textures, just change the source from procedual to picture. (lower left buttons in the material channel.)

Aye, I often run random images, even ones of questionable content, as separate channels in the Material Lab alongside my procedural textures. Chaos is the stuff of life... Must tame it!
