Subject: What's in Terri's back yard now? (15 minute challenge)

Hey, folks --

I wander away from the forum for a little while and you all go very strange on me. Well, not to be left out, here's a response to twillis' vaguely suggested 15 minute challenge. Yes, this actually took me considerably more than 15 minutes, but I'd built the robot for a project that wound up falling through, so I'm not counting the dozens of hours putting him together. I actually did the composite in Photoshop (sorry, Litst, I really feel that PS is an amazing tool), but spent time in RDS posing the guy and getting lighting to match. I did spend about 20 minutes putting this together, so it's within the 4 hour lee-way that seems to be traditional in the 15 minute challenges. (And, yes, Terri, if you're interested, feel free to post this wherever you like.)

Anyone else want to put something strange in Terri's back yard? Join in on the fun! (I'm fully expecting something cheezy from France....)

Shhhh ... Don't say it too loud, Chip ! Great robot ! Glad to see you still like this look from the 50s B-movies :) litst

What do you mean "go all strange". What go? We've been all strange for quite awhile, and that means you too, mister. You've probably been hanging out with normal people too much while you've been away, so your strange threshold is probably lower than it should be. From the looks of the picture above, though, it appears that you are getting back to normal. Well, I mean, OUR version of normal. Great robot. I really like robots. Have I mentioned that before? I blame too-early exposure to Isaac Asimov.

I see it is a hourse farm! Well a robot needs a hourse, unfortunatly I only have this old diesel model that just barely can get out of the barn (Garage?)

Wildcats (Powercats from previous post). Not really "robotic" but it did take about 1/2 hour. Used Photoshop to composit flag to image.

These are great! But you people are totally nuts, in case you didn't know.

AzChip ( ) posted Mon, 08 July 2002 at 8:46 PM

OK, Terri, you lambaste me for saying "go very strange," and then you call us all nuts. What's up with that? That said, this is a fun thread. I think Ashley's robots would kick my robot's ro-butt. (And a really nice composite job, there.) I love the horse, ppopwellaa -- just cracked me up. And Mark, as usual, great work. Are those mosquitos built in Carrara? Amazing looking. And willf, it didn't need to be robotic; just something strange. Cool flag -- built in C also? I'm still hoping for a big wedge of cheddar or something from the other side of the Atlantic.... - Dex

My offering to the challenge, a little green guy I call Makk Nugget. All modelled in C months ago, but just boned and rendered for the first time here.

Watch out Makk! There's cheese about to land on your head!

Guys 'n' gals, sorry I haven't been around to comment on these, or add my own. They are all terrific, and my friends and family have really enjoyed looking at them. You folks are the reason I keep coming back to renderosity, which probably means I am in need of deep therapy.

I finally could finish my entry ! :) The title is : "The attack of the flying fromages against the evil cheddar storage shed of Miss Willis who wants to conquer the world from her seat" I admit i photoshoped a bit this time but in a war like this there is no rule . Miss Willis, fear the smell of my Fromages !!! litst

Litst, you have gone to far. I'm sure there are United Nation (ICL's) International Cheese-laws protecting their rights. Violators of this law will be subject to harsh punishment. Nice Pix though -Ashley3d

Ashley, i can answer you by saying what some of the most famous war strategists said before me : "It's not me who started !" ;) and thanks for your comments :) litst

What's that Lassie? Terri's Cheddar barn is under attack by the French?! ***Those Meunsters!** Lead us to 'em girl!*

It should be noted, gentle readers, that Lassie had been sent to get help by one of the workmen shoveling out the horse barn. It was his last act before being overcome by the smell of "fine French cheese."

(Just a little joke).

Don't belive the crazed frenchman's digital deviltry twillis! This is the scene out back... plenty of cheddar tanks and AMERICAN cheese paratroopers to protect your cheddar barn! ;>
