Subject: Flowing draped clothing

Does anyone know of clothing fashioned on the ancient Greek or Roman style for Vicki? The dresses of voluminous folds with cording criss-crossed across the bodice? Any hair styling of the era?

DAZ has the Olympian Clothing, not a toga, but hopefully it will work for you. Neftis has some cool hair in the Renderosity Marketplace that would look good on a Greek or Roman. Hope that helps! Jay

I've looked for them too--no luck so far. I've seen images here that were inspired by Alma-Tadema's Late Victorian paintings, but I think the clothes were mostly postwork..... Next time one of our gifted clothing modelers asks for suggestions, we should ask nicely for them and have a couple of reference sites to send them to for the styles, too.

Found one site with screen-sized images, but it has a severe case of Popupitis, so I'll post a couple here. The rest of the site is simply gorgeous!

wow...there is a capodimante store, near my office...and, another store with "fantasy" items. both have figurines wearing this type of clothing. i have been playing around with some such dress for months in rhino....and, no where near anything looking even decent. tough assignment, guys....even tougher if you want to keep the polygon count reasonable enough to use a dress like this with a couple of m figures.... philc...my hat goes off to you. i am soo anxious to see what you come up with.

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 7:34 PM

I would say for Vicki :) ...

I vote for Vicki...if we're voting, that is.

Zhann ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 10:17 PM

Definitely for Vicki and Steph, I actually have museum prints of the clothing. If you make it, we will buy...

The outfit Ancksunamun had on in the Mummy Returns was kinda neat and the body paint in the first movie...anyone interested?

Ankh-sun-amon's body texture from the first movie was nicely done, and should still be in free stuff here. IIRC, there were a couple of modeled pieces for the jewelry, too (not ALL of that was paint!) There is a "sittable chiton" for the Dork at Baument (check his archives) and some Greco-Roman stuff at CacheForge (low poly?). There is at least one Statue of Liberty in 3ds format (non-posable). Traveler gave us a nice Greek-styled tunic for Vicki last year as well as some vases, etc. (but you had to be a member of his PropsClub... still the best bargain around... this week we got a fantasy hot air balloon). I remember an Aphrodite from someone, will have to check my files. Some of Serge Marck's experiments with "pleats and folds" are interesting as starting points for an outfit. Currently, however, there are no authentic clothes such as are seen on the caryatids or contemporary mosaics for any of the figures. Almost all of what little we have is from the movies or idealized Victorian paintings (Alma-Tedema and Waterhouse and the rest did lovely luminescent work, from a 2500 year vantage point). From the evidence Steve has provided, drapery will be a lot easier to handle in P5. I wish Nerd and Phil the best. It may take a while, but I think we'll finally get real clothes from real time periods. :) Carolly

Couldn't find the Anhksunamun body texture in the free stuff, am I going blind? Directions please, as an aside, anyone who likes Waterhouse, Allposters.com has posters of most of the Pre-Raphealites paintings, they are some good examples of draped clothing...

Other clothing I was looking for would be the type in Victorian and Edwardian times, good examples would be illustrated in the painting of impressionists, Benson and Monet did some nice clothing...

The texture is there. It is by spothmann... search under "ankh" and it is the second item. Here is the thumbnail of it.
