Subject: That giant sucking sound...

Mosca ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 12:01 PM · edited Mon, 03 February 2025 at 5:07 AM

...appears to be PoserPros going down the toilet, now that DAZ has bought them out. Suddenly, they're just as uptight about nudity as DAZ (the fine folks who brought us the Barbie-doll genitaled Vicky). Too bad--the site had promise. And am I imagining this, or are we on the verge of a full-scale commercial knock-down, drag-out between DAZ and R'osity? Anybody giving odds?

terminusnord ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 12:11 PM

Attacking R'osity would not be in DAZ's best interest. It would likely be their demise if they did this, since majority of their business comes from R'osity users. -Adam

wouldn't know, don't go to poser pros. I think I visited once just to check them out.

rcook ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 2:05 PM

For the record, the only nudity being disallowed is that for those who appear under the age of 18. I know Renderosity already has a similar policy in place. And no one is attacking Renderosity, or any other site. Russell

Mosca, No one wants to attack anyone or anybody...I think you would like to foster that illusion, but it's just not happening. The only thing that is different from before at PoserPros is the enforcement of a rule that was already there, nothing more, nothing less. As for the reasons, it has nothing to do with anything other then the site has always wanted to strive for an atmosphere where the majority of people are comfortable. Inappropriate postings of images that involve what could be construed as a "minor" child does not foster that environment. We gave much more leeway then we should have, then a VERY inappropriate photograph showed up and gave us all quite the wake up call, that precipitated a more thorough enforcement. Essentially, we began to enforce that rule the way it should have been enforced all along. No one is selling out, no one is being told what to do. No hidden story here, no agenda. You can either believe it or not, whatever spin you wish to put on it you can, but it won't change the truth of the matter. Pendarian

Daz isn't stupid enough to shoot themselves in the foot. No one wants to bring Renderosity down. Is it so bad to have different settings to choose from? I'd say the majority of people go to several of the bigger places anyhow and not to just one.

Mosca, stop trolling! I have no idea why you would want to spread rumors and blatant lies about PP, anyway, do you feel threatened by their success for some reason? Or are you just pissed that you can't post porn over there, either, just like in any decent forum?

It's PoserPros, not PoserPorn. Common mistake. And since you can't do anything at Renderosity that you can't do at PoserPros, I don't think you're going to get much sympathy here, either. That "giant sucking sound"? That's sound of common sense reaching out to you. Naked little girls just don't go over well here, there, or anywhere, I'm afraid. Accept it. War? Yep, you're imaging it.

Mosca ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 7:42 PM

"And since you can't do anything at Renderosity that you can't do at PoserPros, I don't think you're going to get much sympathy here, either." Not true. My image "Joy," which depicted a young-looking nude in a non-sexual context, was eventually reinstated here. It would not currently be allowed at PoserPros, althoug a mere two months ago I was explicitly invited by two PoserPros mods (Mehndi among them) to post the image there. Further, I think it's dishonest for them to suggest that a single inappropriate photograph resulted in a site-wide change in policy. Why don't they just tell the truth? The boys at DAZ got their panties in a wad about a few faerie pics; now suddenly they're "enforcing" an existing policy they chose to ignore, coincidentally, till merging with DAZ. AND, I think the fact that this post has been shoveled into the "Team Contact Forum" is kind of a giveaway that I've touched a nerve, as are all the shrill protestations to the contrary. Clearly, something's up--DAZ appears to be moving fairly aggressively into a much more directly competetive position vis a vis R'osity--otherwise, why bother acquiring PoserPros? Anybody care to address the issues I've raised, rather than attacking me personally?

x2000 ( ) posted Tue, 16 July 2002 at 8:38 PM

Ah, the key words are "currently reinstated". Frankly Mosca, it's possible that it may be "reinstated" over at PoserPros in a while, too. Give Russ and Mehndi a few days to work out all of the details of this situation. Yes, it's possible the current rules are a bit too strict. But if they're guilty of having a knee-jerk reaction, so are you. If you'd just discuss this with them instead of battling with them, you'd get farther. And this advice comes from someone who has been known at times to shoot first and ask questions later, so I know full well what I'm talking about;) If R'osity changed their mind, Poser Pros may, too.

And if not and you don't like it... well, tough shit, the world can do without any of your child porn.

mosca: Poserprops is a nice place with a good policy as Rendo is, I can't see any trouble besides some child nudity and sexual explicit pictures, It is the same common sence of all these sites, I'm not part of Renderotica, because I know that place has different rules, so all the forums sites are as the TV channels, you can choose them at freewill, I suggest you to stay here, if you are not comfortable with Poserpros. From Mosca:Further, I think it's dishonest for them to suggest that a single inappropriate photograph resulted in a site-wide change in policy. Why don't they just tell the truth? The boys at DAZ got their panties in a wad about a few faerie pics; now suddenly they're "enforcing" an existing policy they chose to ignore, coincidentally, till merging with DAZ. Me: It was not a site wide policy change. The policy did not change at all, it was the enforcement of the policy that changed. Big difference. That ruling was put up for all to read in the Gallery forum on March 25th I believe. We did not "ignore it" we were too lenient,yes... that everyone admits in enforcing what should have been enforced and whether you choose to believe it or not, it was in fact "one inappropriate picture" not a rendered image, but an actual picture Mosca. As I said before, you can put whatever spin you want on it, it's still not going to change the truth. Daz has been looking for a forum to call their own for a very long time. They have talked to almost every larger online forum around I think. This has been an ongoing quest for them for at least the last year. Everytime they thought it was going to happen things fell apart as business dealings sometimes do. I'm not privy to the reasons and it wouldn't be appropriate for me to discuss even if I was. But that is the history on it. What turned them to PoserPros was not only because it was just forming, but also because of the names of some of the people that decided to call it their "home base". It's a good fit, we are all very, very excited about it. It will allow PoserPros to achieve what they wanted to achieve quicker. That's pretty much it in a nutshell, if you'd like more information, the forums over there are chock full of discussions about it. Mosca: as are all the shrill protestations to the contrary. Me: I did not realize that posting to a thread constituted "shrill protestations". I was merely stating my opinion, as you do, and the other members here. Pendarian

reading the posts over at PP as I did yesterday it was a picture of a real under 18 girl in the nude that started it & quite rightly they got rid of the offending picture. They also started looking at everything else in the gallery just to make sure, the rules didn't change they just started using them properly. it's not a ban on faerefolkis just a ban on porn. No I'm not a PP stooge either :) Rob
