Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 30 8:14 pm)
Here's an image to show for it.
Underwater Flying Objects...
Occasionally it loses track of the maps and I have to show Vue where they are when I open the models. If you can fix that before 4.2 that would be great.
But YES for sure now the Vue OSX can find Poser Models even from my Pro copy on a firewire drive.
And thanks for listening about the pzz's too - nice for it to find the compressed files - whoohoo!
Scott
Too bad that it did NOT work for me! :((( Vue started importing the Poser file, but it imported my figure as an OBJ-file. So there were no textures loaded. Isn't that strange, huh? Do you guys who made the import work use the Pro Pack only? I use Poser 4.03 (German version). Maybe this might the cause, too. Phil
Phil - I do have the pro pack only, but it used to only work with the plain pack, so it should work for both now. Did you make a backup of your original Vue install and then just replace your app with the new one Steve provided? Also - I noticed you need to make sure to generate a new pz 3 or pzz from Poser after you make the switch to the new Vue. Just to be safe I made sure I generated the new file via Classic and not a different boot too. Try these suggestions and see if you can get it to work. Good luck. Scott
Scott, thanks for the hints, I'll try that pz3 resave thingie when I come home. But I have to boot under Mac OS 9.2.2 since Poser crashes under Classic. I starts if it's a plain installation, but as soon as I add several models like the Millenium figures, clothes and such Poser refuses to work under the Classic environment...isn't that interesting? :) Keeping my fingers crossed though. Phil
Weird - Clark says his Poser won't always run under Classic too. If the pzzzs from 9.22 don't work, I bet you'll have to generate them under Classic. However, maybe this is one of the things Steve fixed. btw - I have a full boat of millennium figures and custom installs in my Poser pro and I am running that from Classic. My fingers are crossed for you. Scott

We're sorry to hear the problems some of you have experienced with the direct Poser 4 imports on Mac OS X (having to reinstall Poser 4 under Classic). Please realize that a lot is going on in the background to enable communications between an OS 9 and a native OS X application. I know such things may seem obvious, but they are not as simple as you could think.Anyhow, we have a partial fix for this problem, so if you want to give it a try, please download the following file, unstuff it and replace your Vue 4 application with it. Make sure you backup your files before doing so. Please do not attempt to install this fix if you don't feel comfortable with manipulating application files under OS X.

Let me know how it goes.
