Hey! I downloaded the last version of the beta, but haven't had a chance to try it yet, and I NEED it to finish my animation. Does this mean that I won't be able to use the beta download and I'll have to wait for the commercial version before I can finish my animation? (Like I said, I haven't had the time to try it yet.)

Hey EdW--Thanks for the tip. I do know about the Windows installremove programs utility; however, if I'm right, sometimes it leaves little pieces behind. Actually, so do some programs' uninstall routines. I guess I should invest in a dedicated uninstaller if I'm going to continue to try out all this "cripple-ware". Hey Terry--I think you are going to have the same problem I did. I don't see why not. It's too bad we can't actually buy the real software now. The time gap between the beta time-out and the commercial release is annoying; but then, like you, I never really had a chance to try it out. So-o-o sad!
Terry.. the beta timed out on Feb 15. They have it posted on their website, so none of the betas will work. You'll have to wait and buy the 1.0 release which is $195. Seed.. yes it will leave some stuff at times. Most of the times it's in the registry.. you can get rid of these too, but if you're not comfortable working with the registry I wouldn't recommend it. Ed
well i think that some one should make a patch to stop the timed mimic beta im positive that there is one such patch or crack out there . i mean don't get me wrong im buying the full virsion the day it comes out but it would be cool to still use the beta till than for reserch and practice sake if any one els thinks or is thinking what im thinking than you get my drift..................peace & keep on posen my friends
To all licensed Poser 3/4 users. I think expiring Beta Mimic version it's a legal but stupid way to pourpose commercial program. We are still waiting for a full beta version, for testing eye blinking and head movement and Lipsinc already want to get our money at the price of Poser 4 upgrade. Let me know if we want, together, e-mail lipsinc to shout our rights of Beta Tester. It's true that contract says clearly that 15-02-00 is the expiring date for the program but I have not noticed and on site it was not clearly written.
Heck, I will be buying MIMIC the first day that it is released too. It's just that I am disappointed that I downloaded the beta a couple of days before it was (unknowingly to me) scheduled to expire. Had I been more aware of its expiration date, I would have gotten around to downloading it sooner. I've been busy for the last month or so working on a non-commercial animation that I scripted to work around a couple of key scenes in which I had planned on employing MIMIC. But by the time I needed to start working with MIMIC, I was saddened to find that the darn beta had expired. My fear is that they might get hung up in releasing the final product (happens a lot, it seems), and I'll be left hanging with my incomplete animation until then. Kinda' steals the enthusiasm one gets when working on a project for fun. I don't agree that hacking the beta is the way to go, however. I'd rather that LipSync retimed the beta to expire closer to when they will actually release the final. I agree that the time could be spent practicing and getting inspired about new ways to employ MIMIC in projects.

Today in my email I got a notice that I could purchase mimic before the release date of april3(if memory serves) and when you purchase Mimic before its release you can download another beta version(just like the first) that will work until april 8(after you recieve the full version)You also get a 25% discount. I purchased mine.I am sure that if you downloaded the beta before you you too will get this email( if you hadn't already)

Now--thanks to Lipsinc, and my own fuzzy thinking--I have a bunch of junk on my hard drive with no uninstall routine. The Mimic beta timed-out on Feb. 15. My first install attempt hadn't worked; so, not realizing that it was past Feb. 15, I downloaded another copy of Mimic beta, as urged to do by the scrolling banner at the top of this forum page. It installed itself; but, when I tried to run the progam itself, I got a meesage saying the time had expired on my beta version--it won't run now! And it has no uninstall program. So now I have a bunch of useless junk stuck on my hard drive. Beware, and don't make the same mistake. SEEDPRESS
