could that count have been produced by a "bot"? none of the other ones were so out of sync. (he, he...i know about bots 'cause of a contest i entered a couple years back...folks were getting disqualified, etc...and, hey, now...i beat thomas kinkaide out in the "popular" category...what a feather for my hat...too bad, i forgot where i put my danged hat. ;*)

I think that in this case renderosity would have to control if it's all normal !!! and i not believe that is them something of normal ! true renderosity ?? ;)

If you look at the gallery you will see this work gets alot of hits. A previous work also was very high so it would explain catching attention again. Then the high viewings would perk other's interest. I believe in this case the numbers are valid.

People, bear in mind that sometimes members have links to their galleries or certain images on other sites that generate traffic as well. Let's not jump the gun and always think the worst of others :)

Every picture giovanino posts gets hundreds of hits in just a few hours but not a lot of comments...heh, I suspect he's pounding away on his own image, but others have told me that it doesn't count if you click on your own. :) It doesn't really matter now that the Hot 20 is decided on votes, but it's yet another mystery of this place. ;) SnowS Hoping his pictures are worth 1001 words

"People, bear in mind that sometimes members have links to their galleries or certain images on other sites that generate traffic as well. Let's not jump the gun and always think the worst of others :)" Wouldn't that be bandwidth theft? And doesn't Renderosity frown upon bandwidth theft? How can this person get so many hits when I've never heard of him/her?

Pinto ( ) posted Mon, 22 July 2002 at 8:06 AM

Oh my! How could a person be so popular if ronkinghts hasnt heard of them?!!! Well, if it will ease your mind ronknights, giovaninos probably never heard of you either. Pinto

I really haven't checked into what Renderosity allows as far as bandwidth theft is concerned. All I know is that I've visited many sites where the people gave a link to their Renderosity gallery and AFAIK that's acceptable. But just to set the record straight, I decided to do a search for my gallery and at the bottom I found this: "We are proud to host of the works of Kalypso here at Renderosity.com. If you would like to make a direct link from your own website to this artist's gallery, please feel free to do so! Here is the recommended URL, just copy and paste!" There's your mystery all solved I should say :)

That is probably so Kalypso. Also, you have a semi nude with an interesting texturing idea and I think that anything with nudity gets many more hits. As I recall there is a very high membership here and not everyone is a participating artist. I have read in other threads that there is a belief that some only come for the nudes.
