I'm told by long-time locals here that back in the late 50's and early 60's the Memphis Motor Lodge was the happening place to stay for those passing through. But by the early 70's, the Interstate Highways bypassed the area just off from downtown, putting it out of business, and locked up for these past 30 years. Shot these earlier today.

A spooky kind of place. Had to climb a fence. Lots of birds.

Cool shots, I love abandoned places too, who could resist! 2 & 3 really get across the sense of space & abandonment & I like the perspective in the last one, I think that would be cool to play around with some extreme postwork...

Reminds me of this place I considered placing guests for my wedding. We decided against it! Well at least you know where to hide the bodies if you become a serial killer. =:-| > Bsteph

Cool pix!!! Looks like they were real serious when the shut this place down... using cinder blocks to actually fill in the windows!!! No ones gettin in them rooms huh! Bet it takes on a whole new persona at night!!!! Hey, did ya notice how those symbols on the railing in pix 2&3 seem to look brand spankin new compared to the rest of the building?!! Almost like they glow....weird! L8r!
