Subject: Problem with Eve

ymeynot ( ) posted Mon, 22 July 2002 at 8:37 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 9:53 AM

Whenever I load up something that is sposed to like... go for Eve, like say Eve3 Paulina... It says that it cant find P4WNEve3.obj. I dont know what to do. Also with Stringy Thing, when I start it up it goes searching for a file. Then when I skip it, it comes up but there is an outline of a body in it... AND with the oil drum the fire doesnt work... help me pleeeeeeease.

Look in your geometriesP4NudeWoman folder for the P4NWEveV3.obj file. If it's not there, you need to reinstall Eve - you need to decode the Eve pcf file to get the obj. If it is, delete the P4NWEveV3.rsr file in the same folder and try again. There appears to be an error in the oil drum. Mine asks for a ild.jpg, which doesn't exists. Just click cancel if this happens. You will have to open the material editor select each of the cone objects and manually assign the fire.jpg to both the material and transparency properties for both of them. Have no idea about the stringy thingy.

Uhm I know what's wrong with the fire in the oildrum :o} Seems I forgot to properly rename everything when I packaged the file. The thing is, it looks for a transparancy map called "ild.jpg" which isn't there. Instead use the "fire.jpg" it's what it was supposed to use. (heh and it kinda says so in the readme ;o) ) I will fix it later today when I get home from work.

Im sorry. I will go ahead and tell ya I AM a moron. And to decode it... what do you do? Just rename it?

Another thing, what does it mean when it says, object is a newer version than expected, will try to read anyway?

And whenever I try to load the barrel I can faintly see the fire but there are dots all over it... this is making me depressed.

ymeynot The "object is newer version than expected" is coz I've made it using pro pack. Apart from the slightly annoying message, everything should be fine. As for the dots on the fire, it is becourse the fire uses a transparency map, it will be visible when you render it - IF you've loaded the correct "fire.jpg" A solution is on it's way, the corrected version is about to be uploaded, but as I'm not making the actual upload myself, I can't say exactely WHEN! The date will tell though, the corrected zip will be dated today, July 22nd 2002. Sorry for the inconvenience with the incorrect pp2.

RE Decoding: The Eve zip should have a file probably evev3.pcf. You need to get a program called "mover" from here in freestuff.. You use this to decode the pcf file and get the necessary eve obj file. The instructions that came with the Eve zip tell you how to do it.
